CHEF- COMMUNITY KITCHEN IN TRIPOLI

      This project supports a transition to agroecology and strengthens access to food through:

  1. Promoting production methods that maximize nutrition and profitability, including research and experimentation;
  2. Building a pool of professionals trained in agroecology through awareness and capacity building; and
  3. Expanding markets for agroecological produce through the establishment of a Community Kitchen in Tripoli.

       Job Summary

  1. Plan and prepare nutritious, balanced, and culturally appropriate meals in coordination with the Supervisor.
  2. Ensure the use of fresh, locally sourced, and agroecological ingredients whenever possible.
  3. Develop weekly menus that reflect seasonal availability and the dietary needs of the community.
  4. Ensure meals are cooked, portioned, and served on time according to the kitchen schedule.
  5. Support the Supervisor in managing kitchen stock and procurement needs.
  6. Maintain a clean workspace and report equipment or maintenance issues.
  7. Supervise helpers and volunteers and support kitchen flow and crowd management.
  8. Foster a welcoming environment for community members and kitchen visitors.
  9. Assist during distributions with beneficiary tracking when needed.

    

Preference will be given to candidates from the local community.

  • A financial offer indicating expected monthly remuneration.  

The Chef will work 10 days per month 8 days dedicated to meal preparation and distribution (conducted twice per week) and 2 days allocated for logistics and related tasks.

Qualifications & Competencies:

-Diploma or certificate in Culinary Arts, Nutrition, Hospitality, or a related field.
-Strong knowledge of nutrition, menu planning, and cost control.
-Professional cooking experience, preferably in community kitchens, restaurants, or social food programs.
-Experience working in community-based or humanitarian contexts.
-Familiarity with local cuisine and dietary habits in Tripoli.
