Project Manager - Nation Station

The project will support a transition to agroecology and improve access to food through (1) evidence generation to maximize production and profitability, namely through research and experimentation; (2) establishment of a pool of advocates and professionals in agroecology, mostly through training and awareness; and (3) expanding marketing channels for agroecology, through the establishment of a Community Kitchen in Tripoli to contribute to food security (replicating the model of Nation Station’s kitchen in Beirut).

The Project Manager reports to Nation Station’s General Director and works in close cooperation with Mada’s Project Manager. The Project Manager is based in Beirut, at Nation Station’s premises in Geitawi, noting starting from the second year, weekly field visits to Tripoli are expected.

The Project Manager is responsible for the overall and effective management of Nation Station’s activities under the project, and ensuring that the objectives are met within the required timeframe, with close consideration of quality and sustainability. The Project Manager is responsible for the entire project cycle, including budget management (comprising expenditure planning and expenditure monitoring), while also leading and enhancing internal and external learning and representation.

 

Project Reporting and Communication

• Ensure both narrative and financial reports are submitted on time to Mada as per requirements; coordinates with Nation Station’s Finance Officer for the financial report.

• Ensures that data is collected on a regular basis for timely and quality reporting;

• Ensures the visibility of the project as per required standards and requirements;

• Communicates regularly with the General Director and submits internal reports as required;

• Ensures that success stories and challenges are documented;

Compliance

• Ensures processes are followed as per the procedures outlined in the contract with Mada.

• In coordination with the Finance Officer, ensures supporting documentation is collected and provided to Mada on a monthly basis.

Accountability to Communities and Beneficiaries  

The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring that all relations with local communities and beneficiaries are positive and conducted in a respectful and consultative manner. Due attention must be paid to ensuring that communities are adequately consulted and informed about activities, objectives, activities, selection criteria, and methodologies to ensure transparency.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree or related experience in Livelihoods, Economics, Development, Food Security, or related fields

• 3-5 years of experience in NGOs, working under projects in the development sector

• Experience in donor relations and reporting

• Ability to work with a broad spectrum of people, both staff and stakeholders/beneficiaries

• Excellent English and Arabic skills (written and oral)

• Ability to effectively present information and maintain flexibility

• Ability to cope with stressful situations and tight deadlines

• Ability to be present on field on a regular basis

• Previous experiences working on food distributions is an asset
