Analyst of the Lebanese legal instruments from a Gender perspective

Tasks 

The expert will be undertaking the following tasks:

  • Carry out an inception meeting to ensure clear understanding of the TORs with key milestones and deliverables.
  • Design a conceptual framework for the analysis of this assignment.
  • Conduct a desk review to compile and update the previous compilation of laws, and analysis of all relevant documentations and legislations including proposal laws, draft laws and decrees aimed at eliminating legal discrimination against women in Lebanon.
  • Identify the gaps, coherence, discriminatory provisions and gender equality in the identified legislations and map/highlight discriminatory topics not covered by any proposal law, law or decree.
  • Analyze and interpret the results and discuss initial results with NCLW.
  • Prepare draft report in Arabic and share with NCLW, UNFPA and relevant stakeholders for feedback.
  • Include feedback in the final draft and incorporate suggested modifications.

Required Qualifications

  1. Education: Master’s degree in Law, Political science, Social Sciences, or other relevant field.
  2. Experience:
  • 8-12 years of experience in research.
  • Experience in conducting legal research.
  • Strong knowledge of gender and women empowerment issues.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to work independently and productively, with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with governmental and non-governmental entities is essential
  • Familiarity with UN work is desirable

Language and other skills: Proficiency in oral and written Arabic is essential.
