The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) is seeking a Beirut-based Program Assistant to provide logistical, administrative, and programmatic support for projects focused on electoral reform, election monitoring, public opinion research and citizen advocacy.
Primary Responsibilities
Under close supervision of a program officer, provides administrative and logistical support;
Performs research tasks and contributes to the drafting of various documents specific to the project;
Operates as an effective point of contact for colleagues, including partners, co-workers, and headquarters staff;
Provides administrative support for work plan formulation, implementation and tracking;
Attends and keeps notes of meetings;
Closely tracks political developments and election-related news;
Provides written and oral Arabic/English translation as needed;
Additional duties as required.

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in International Relations, Political Science or a related field.
• At least one year of experience working in development, community organizing, political campaigning, organizational development, elections or a related field. Substantial activist experience planning and implementing campaigns may substitute for professional experience.
• Good interpersonal skills; ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff, government personnel and the NGO community.
• Good oral and written communication skills; ability to listen closely, respond to questions and effectively present information, including articulating NDI’s mission statements and program/project goals.
• Capacity to work both independently and as a member of a team.
• Political analysis skills.
• Excellent organizational skills, follow-through, and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs required; experience with Google Apps (Gmail, Calendar, Google Drive, G+, etc.) strongly desired.
• English and Arabic fluency (written and spoken).
