WASH Entrepreneurship Officer

Responsibilities

The WASH Officer will:

  1. Oversee day to day project implementation and ensure effective and timely completion of WASH interventions;
  2. Support in carrying out community mobilization among refugees and host communities;
  3. Conduct WASH assessments to determine scope of work, resource requirement and estimated cost;
  4. Provide support including on-the-job training, supervision and monitoring of volunteers and local partner staff;
  5. Monitor WASH grants processes and implementation as per NEF regulations and standards;
  6. Prepare weekly field reports to be submitted to the Project Coordinator;
  7. Support in establishing and maintaining proper project documentation and records, including but not limited to: needs assessments questionnaires, monitoring questionnaires, certificates of vouchers receipts, consolidated list of beneficiaries, photos etc.;
  8. Conduct monthly house visits to carry out profiling of targeted households, verify the eligibility of selected beneficiaries for WASH grants disbursement, with the support of the Project Coordinator and partners.
  9. Maintain and update village level database of refugee profiles and sector-based needs;
  10. Assist the Project Coordinator in producing communication material and publications that market NEF’ work (online, offline and audiovisual) in coordination with the Program Teams, for key donors, peer agencies, and other key stakeholders;
  11. Coordinate with M&E team to gather and use existing success stories that highlight NEF’ interventions for donors;
  12. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements:

 

The successful candidate must be a self-directed individual with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, water engineering, public health, environmental sciences or related field; or equivalent combination of education and work experience;
  • 2 -3-years related experience in the UN/INGOs sector (preferably including some or all of: project planning and management; WASH technical advice and planning; public-private partnerships and/or private sector engagement; community mobilization; market-based approaches);
  • Fluency in English and Arabic and ability to effectively write reports and read and interpret documents in both languages;
  • Competence with MS Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Extensive written and verbal communication skills in terms of motivate, convince, and/or change behavior or attitude of contacts;
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to work effectively across a wide variety of cultural contexts;
  • Good interpersonal skills;
  • Flexibility in accepting work assignments;
  • Effective team player, able to develop and maintain effective working relationships within a distributed and dynamic team;
