Economic Animator

Responsibilities:  Under the supervision of the LEDA technical Director, the expert will mainly work for stimulating micro and small entrepreneurs and producers, business cooperatives, population with particular attention to the most disadvantaged one to use the opportunities related to the economic potential of the region as it comes out from a continuous survey on the endogenous resources and the status of the value chains.   The specific assignments are: Survey on the competitive and sustainable economic potentialities, able to add value to the local economy and to create sustainable jobs and income, and on the needs for their valorization. Elaboration of scenarios including possible trends of the regional economy, mainly including business and job opportunities linked to full valorization of the above mentioned value chains Systematization and dissemination of the information related to the scenarios and opportunities Stimulus and support to create value chain organizations, such as associations, consortium, or other kind of network Pro-active relationships with existing entrepreneurs for stimulating them to use the business opportunities Pro-active relationships with groups (student, youth, women associations, etc.) and places (colleges, universities, municipal social and labor departments, communities, etc.) where to get in contact and scout entrepreneurial talents for new businesses according to the above mentioned opportunities Pro-active relationships with groups (student, youth, women associations, etc.) and places (colleges, universities, municipal social and labor departments, communities, etc.) where to get in contact, for assessing the labor market supply, and preparing strategies and actions for matching the demand related to the above mentioned job opportunities. Preparation and implementation of actions, such a s training, tutorships or mentorships, training-on-the-job, labor stages, etc. for the best use of the business and job opportunities.   Tasks & Expected Output Tasks Value chain analyst: assessment on the regional economic potential, value chain business potential, value chain job opportunities Scenarios’ analyst : scenario analyst, including sectorial trends, risk analysis, regional positioning alternatives Value chain builder: business network stimulator Business promoter: entrepreneurial talent scouting, business stimulator and entrepreneurial motivator Job matcher: labor market analyst, stimulator of people to match the proper job opportunity   Outputs Survey of the economic potential and updating every 3 years Analysis of economic  scenarios  and updating every 3 years Constitution and reinforcement of value chain network, possibly institutionalized Number of new business created out of the value chains opportunities Number of jobs created out of the value chain opportunities     Qualifications:   Competencies  Qualifications and performance the expert must fulfill Competences in economic development, with particular reference to small enterprises and/or rural development Competence in stimulating and managing participatory groups for fulfilling shared strategies and objectives on local or at least general economic development Competence or t least aptitude in combining economic and social objectives, mainly according to the possibilities of including the most disadvantaged people in the mainstream economy Competence or at least aptitude to analyze economic scenarios and trends Capacity of listening, dialogue and communication with reference to people of different cultural backgrounds    Requirements  Education: At least advanced level certificate and/or course certificates in organizational studies, public administration studies, economic studies, labor market studies.   Experience: At least four years of experience in working at support of businesses or economic institutions or associations. Experience in studies or analysis on economics, preferentially local economic development Experience on analysis and promotion of social/relational capital , preferably in less developed areas   Language Requirements: Fluent written and spoken Arabic Good written and spoken English
