Communications Assistant

  1. Role and Responsibilities:

Role Summary:

The Communications Assistant is responsible for assisting in developing the materials set out in the Communications Plan in addition to supporting internal communication and design requests.

Generic Responsibilities:

  1. Gather content (e.g. photography, video, audio, interviews) in support of communication deliverables outlined in the NRC Lebanon Communication plan
  2. Contribute to storytelling that puts refugees and vulnerable Lebanese voices out front
  3. Support the communication & advocacy team as well as programme teams with design requests, translation linked to visibility products or/and in support of communication with and accountability towards beneficiaries
  4. Contribute to NRC Lebanon social media work to promote published communication deliverables and/or regional or Global Office campaigns
  5. Carry out mainstreaming of protection in communication work as per the set NRC’s Protection mainstreaming guidelines, and ensure reporting any breaches/concerns to the line manager for proper action.
  6. Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines.
  7. Carry out related mainstreaming of protection in programme daily implementation as per the set NRC’s Protection mainstreaming guidelines, and ensure reporting any breaches/concerns to the line manager for proper action.  
  8. Ensure that all protection related detected cases are referred to the concerned referral focal point and to the related Protection Coordinator.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Write and submit social media content to NRC’s regional and global offices from Lebanon that emphasize refugees’ perspectives, voices, and experiences.
  • Produce and design digital resources for social media use, such as factsheets, banners, posters, and other contributions as well as liaising with external suppliers to produce materials.
  • Visit field programmes on a regular basis to collect quality photographs, videos, testimonies and write stories about refugees and the Lebanese host community in Lebanon, for external and internal use.
  • Support the production of communication work including photo essays, video’s, engaging storytelling in English and Arabic
  • Maintain and enrich NRC Lebanon’s photo database
  • Content gathering to produce and develop videos and infographics in accordance with NRC’s global style and brand guidelines.
  • Coordinate with both the regional and the head office communications teams as required
  • Translate required documents relevant to the advocacy and information department
  • Support the Communications Adviser and Advocacy Manager with any other communications related tasks.

By interfaces, NRC means processes and projects that are interlinked with other departments/units or persons. Relevant interfaces for this position are:

  • Media
  • NRC Regional office, Global offices and other Country Offices
  • NRC Field and Programme Staff

  • Bachelor degree in Journalism, Media, or Communications or other related discipline.
  • 1-2 year of experience in a similar role, preferably in a humanitarian context/sector
  • Photography, videography, infographic, design and editing skills
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Proficiency in English and Arabic
