1. Role and responsibilities
The following is a brief description of the role.
The CSMC Protection mainstreaming Officer will work closely with the whole CSMC team in Bekaa, and will support and supervise the CSMC assistants in establishing collaboration with refugees from Syria in informal settings; gathering and providing necessary information for regular reporting; and identification of gaps and duplication in services together with the refugees for improved assistance to vulnerable beneficiaries and improved on-site coordination. ‘he/she will support all members of the CSMC team in identifying and referring vulnerable cases, and ensuring that procedures are in place and followed for follow-up on referrals – both internal and external’
It is expected that the Officer spends most of his/her time in the informal settlements with the team members.
Generic responsibilities
Schedule regular meetings with the refugee representatives for identification of gaps and duplications in services, protection concerns, referrals, and capacity building of the representatives;
Ensure protection is represented in all urgent/emergency cases particularly in collective shelters and ITSs.
Report to the CM PM immediately any protection breeches or gaps in the settlements;
Collaborate with NRC ICLA and other service providers to ensure that all partners and beneficiaries are aware of the existing referral system
Work closely with different team members within the existing complaints mechanisms;
Collaborate closely with the other NRC colleagues working in other Core competencies Bekaa area;
Ensure an understanding of protection issues and the principle of confidentiality among the team members through trainings and regular follow up;
Any other relevant duties as requested by the Camp Management Project Manager.
Specific responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Project Manager (PM) , to review all activities falling within the management of the CSMC department for adherence to minimum standards in protection ( NRC Protection Policy as the main guidance)
To submit reports to the PM presenting the results of the review with recommendations and corrective measures
To support team members in the roll-out and implementation of recommendations
To provide technical support on protection to team members through capacity building and sensitization training
To follow up with internal and external referral pathway linking each sector to the services provided under protection.
To act as focal point between CSMC and other sectors within NRC or other organizations in following-up on referrals received through CSMC team.
To provide input on project design to ensure protection concerns are considered during project design.
Critical interfaces
By interfaces, NRC means processes and projects that are interlinked with other departments/units or persons. Relevant interfaces for this position are:
Refugees’ representatives: a good collaboration with the representatives is critical for reaching the project objectives of increased participation by the refugees.
Other NRC Core Competencies: Coordination with all the CCs on activities in Bekaa.
Different stakeholders to whom cases are referred.
The employee is required to respect the principle of strict confidentiality and the NRC Code of Conduct. The tasks and responsibilities might change during the contract period due to operational needs.

Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in working with Protection based projects
Minimum 2 years of experience in working in similar positions, including managing staff
Experience of working in the geographical area
