1. Role and responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Education specialist, Education Coordinator - Curriculum Development will be responsible for designing accelerated learning program curricula for refugee children. The position will be based in Beirut.
The following is a brief description of the role.
Generic responsibilities
Coordinate and implement technical aspects of the Education programme according to country and core competency strategy, proposals and plans
Ensure adherence to both NRC and MEHE Lebanon policy and guidelines in all aspects of NRC education programme
Develop annual activity and work plans
Supervise, train and develop capacities of field staff and teachers in accordance with development plans and work plans
Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in the activities
Cooperate with MEHE, CERD, relevant partners and local authorities
Organize trainings for the CC team, relevant partners and beneficiaries
Weekly and monthly activity/project reports and other reporting as required
Ensure proper filing of all project documents
Specific responsibilities
Conduct analysis of available and existing educational resources and best practices (both internal to NRC and external) to enhance learning outcomes across educational levels (from basic to tertiary levels);
Build partnerships with other education organisations, including MEHE, UN/NGOs and private sector, to integrate relevant educational contents and methodologies into Education and Youth programmes;
Lead the development of needed curricula to meet the needs of children and youth in Lebanon;
Ensure that curricula are in in accordance with national and international norms and standards and they fall within MEHE guidelines, strategy and framework;
Develop, adapt and deliver training modules for trainers and teachers based on identified available resources (both internal and external);
Advise technical and programme staff on curricula to be used. Train and provide feedback to field staff and teachers on methodologies in order to use curricula and technical resources efficiently;
Provide guidance on technical specifications of resources, equipment and teaching aids required for implementation of various educational programmes;
Support the development of M&E tools and systems to measure and analyze learning outcomes and to guide programmatic development;
Participate in NRC's internal coordination (Lebanon country office, regional office and head office) to inform strategy and planning;
Any other task relevant to the position as requested by the line manager.

Education Coordinator/Curriculum Development should work closely with below staff to ensure the success of the programme.

2. Competencies
1. Professional competencies
These are skills, knowledge and experience that are important for effective performance.
Generic professional competencies for this position:
Minimum of 4-5 years of experience from working in an education project implementation position in a humanitarian/recovery context;
Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts;
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities;
Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile ;
Fluency in English and Arabic, both written and verbal.
Context related skills, knowledge and experience:
University degree in Education/Pedagogy;
Extensive experience developing education curricula;
Extensive experience developing teacher training and coaching syllabi;
Experience working with MEHE/CERD is desirable:
Knowledge of the Syrian refugee context in Lebanon; knowledge of the Education sector (gaps and needs) is desirable;
Proven ability to work as part of a team under pressure with limited and remote supervision and support.
