- Role and responsibilities
The Education Officer is contributing to the support of NRC’s Education programming in Lebanon in line with NRC’s strategy and standards.
Generic responsibilities
- Coordinate the education activities according to strategy, proposals, budgets and plans
- Ensure adherence to NRC policies and donor requirements
- Support in representing NRC in relevant forums/ coordination mechanisms with other organizations, and donors
- Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders
- Manage and implement delegated portfolio of Education projects (activities, budget and project documentation) as delegated from the line manager in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements, and ensure high technical quality
- Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in the activities including introduction of new technology, methods and approaches
- Ensure that procurement, development and distribution of materials and equipment at national level are timely and according to procedures
- Prepare periodic progress reports and other documents as required
- Ensures that NRC’s related activities are implemented within NRC’s Protection mainstreaming guidelines and reports any breaches/concerns to the line manager and/or focal point for proper action
Specific responsibilities
- Participate in design and implementation of education assessments (i.e. teachers training needs, students’ participation, school management, parents/community involvement in education etc…)
- Participate in development of training modules, both in English and Arabic to be used in professional development activities
- Participate in the development strategy for teachers and educators based on good practices and internal lessons learnt
- Support in the development of curriculum including pre and post-tests, and other technical aspects as per country and programme strategy
- Coordinate with field staff to ensure consistency in information sharing and implementation of activities
- Maintain positive relations with education partners at national level
- Design forms as required, questionnaires and other templates
- Maintain an up to date archive system (both in hardcopies and electronically).
- Support in the procurement of educational materials including developing PRs, following up on existing materials, and distribution of kits
- Support in the logistic organization of workshops and meetings
- Coordinate with education partners and other stakeholders and attend meetings at national and field level
- Report on outcomes and action points resulted from meetings attended
- Participate in the development of implementation plans for education activities
- Collect and enter data for monitoring and evaluation processes and as requested by supervisors
- Carry out administrative tasks as requested and agreed upon

- Bachelor degree in Education or other relevant field
- Minimum 2 years’ experience from working in Education field in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Strong documentation, research and report writing skills
- Proficiency in English & Arabic both written and spoken
- Proficiency in MS Office (words and excel)
- Experience in designing and presenting training and participatory programs
