French Educator - North Lebanon

Job Overview/Summary:

The Non-Formal Education Educator will be responsible for facilitating the overall delivery of the programme in a safe, child-friendly environment, upholding the standards of the NRC’s Code of Conduct, while ensuring full inclusion and protection of the vulnerable children as a key responsibility of this role and following NRC’s Protection Policy The position holder will work in close connection with Education Officers (EOs) and will receive a pre­service training on topics specific to the context. This will also include regular mentoring and observation visits from EOs and other technical staff.

 

Responsibilities:

· Provide effective teaching and facilitation to refugees and vulnerable host community children by employing a variety of methodologies in teaching students, including demonstrations, discussions, and lectures

· Attend and actively participate in all training assigned by NRC

· Implement and follow standard curriculum and inform content development where needed, including the production and dissemination of teaching handouts and activities sheets.

· Maintain a child-friendly and safe teaching/learning environment in the classroom while adopting a holistic approach to teaching (physical, emotional, and intellectual well-being)

· Use positive discipline in the classroom.

· Support in programnme outreach and children registration as needed.

· Responsible for classroom adaptation and decoration relevant to the age/class group

· Conduct learning achievement exercises pre, post and periodic assessments during the cycle.

· Working on learners’ files, data entry, and learner evaluation.

· Plan and implement lessons as per the directions of the subject coordinator.

· Attending educator meetings, participate in Teacher Learning Circles, develop extra material during workshops and adapt them to the need of the students.

· Teach and educate students according to their educational needs and abilities according to students levels per class/grade.

· Prepare, implement, and supervise recreational activities.

· Follow up on student attendance and absence, by conducting phone calls with parents/caregivers.

· Enhance parental involvement through positive communication channels with parents and PCGs (Parents Community Group) members

· Utilize and protect the educational equipment, such as materials, books, and other learning aids provided by NRC

· Supervise the students upon arrival and departure and between sessions

· Apply/mainstream child protection guidelines following the training provided by NRC.

Qualifications and Relevant Skills:

· Diploma or bachelor’s degree in education, French Literature, or a related field; certification/license in teaching is a plus.

· One to two years of working experience in education or Non-Formal teaching setup

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Word and Excel is a plus

· Ability to listen actively, understand, communicate effectively, and discuss with other educators, and parents of children.

· Strong oral and written communication skills.
