Icla Information Field Officer

Job Purpose Summary The Information Field Officer in the Community Centre, Saadnayel will be primarily responsible for assisting with establishing protection and information activities in the Community Centre and the surrounding area through outreach; providing information to beneficiaries on how to access services; implement assessments (such as focus groups, interviews and questionnaires); assist in preparing basic information documents; conduct outreach sessions; and participate in other relevant activities.  NRC also aims to strengthen the understanding of any protection and legal issues faced by those displaced and, in coordination with other actors, identify ways to address these issues.  The Information Field Officer will be responsible for organising ICLA work in the centre and surrounding areas. Key Responsibilities Background NRC has established three Community Centres in Bekaa. Through this project, NRC reaches out to Syrian families and host community families in and around the areas of the Community Centres.  NRC is extending this project to cover the South of Lebanon.  NRC seeks to provide information and counselling services relating to access to services; documentation and other related matters.  Duties and Responsibilities Prepare the relevant mapping (including written format) of relevant services being provided by other actors in the area of work. Assist in identifying suitable location for a NRC Community Centre if needed. Assist in conducting regular assessments (including focus groups, interviews, questionnaires) in the Centre and in identified areas. Conduct information sessions for beneficiaries. Contribute to the sensitisation of the Syrian and host communities on the existing activities offered at the Centre. Assist in preparing information documents for target communities. Work closely and coordinate activities with the other ICLA teams in the other Community Centres and the outreach teams. Receive technical input from ICLA Lebanon team. Work cooperatively with the beneficiaries and other relevant stakeholders to strengthen the project. Constantly monitor and follow-up on the quality of services provided at the Centre Have a clear idea about activities other institutions working in the same area are carrying out with displaced Syrians and, as agreed with supervisor, attend coordination and protection meetings. Assist in contributing to the development of referral mechanisms in collaboration with other NGOs,  ICLA Field Coordinator and NRC Managers. Attend and participate in relevant meetings, in coordination with relevant NRC staff. Assist in designing the needed forms, questionnaires and other templates. Maintain archiving system up to date (both in hardcopies and electronically), and pay special attention to the filing of legal cases. Work closely with ICLA lawyer and do the required follow up and identification of cases requiring counseling and/or legal representation. Report weekly & monthly (or more often, if required) on activities and results to the relevant NRC staff. Carry out administrative tasks as agreed upon. Perform any other task as assigned by NRC management.  Supervisees: The IFO Supervises the work of the IFAs in the Community Centre.  Qualifications and Competences Academic and Professional Qualifications University education in Law; Legal Services or Social Sciences preferred. Relevant Experience Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant work experience in a busy organization. Knowledge, Skills & Personal Attributes Good communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational and team working skills Good cultural awareness and sensitivity Highly approachable, trustworthy and confidential Knowledge of the NGO operations and the dynamics of the humanitarian sector is a plus Experience in providing information and counseling services. Experience in community sensitization/mobilization Team spirit. Flexibility.
