Shelter, Technical Field Assistant (2)

These attitudes and believes shall guide our actions and relationships. 1.      Role and responsibilities The following is a brief description of the role. Generic responsibilities 1-            Carry out technical assessments of houses and  collective centers, in line with NRC’s project criteria, in order to aid the assessment of the need (from the technical aspect) for a shelter intervention such as minor rehabilitation works, major construction works and/or any other future shelter intervention 2-            Produce accurate drawings, reports, measurements (BoQs) and/or photographs as evidence of a technical assessment Specific responsibilities   Supervise the contractors work in the assigned houses.   Assist beneficiaries with technical advice on how to complete their works at the expected quality            and budget. Keep accurate data of all the technical information and ensure that all beneficiary files are complete Provide technical assistance to any other NRC staff as required and for the purposes of training and/or writing of project proposals Ensure and promote efficient and cost-effective use of NRC’s assets  and resources in order to maximize funding to beneficiaries  Reporting activities Data entry To share ideas with the TFO to fulfill the beneficiaries’ needs To arrange meetings with the beneficiaries when necessary to discuss issues. To perform other related duties as identified by the supervisor when requested Conduct technical assessments and quick surveys of shelters Follow up implementation of work for each assigned house at every stage Create a supervision plan for all assigned houses Provide certification of eligibility to receive installments Report troublesome cases to TFO Critical interfaces By interfaces, NRC means processes and projects that are interlinked with other departments/units or persons. Relevant interfaces for this position are: Beneficiaries Shelter Field Officers and Shelter Field Assistants, Field Technical Officers and Technical Assistants Team Leader, Coordinator, Database Assistant and Project Manager Local authorities (e.g. Muhktars) 2.      Competencies 1. Professional competencies Generic professional competencies: •             Experience from working with shelter projects in a humanitarian/recovery context •             Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts •             Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities        Experience with data collection using tablets and in paper form Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience: Good communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational and team working skills Good cultural awareness and sensitivity          Highly approachable, trustworthy and confidential         Good English Language level         Knowledge of the NGO operations and the dynamics of the humanitarian sector is a plus        Construction technical knowledge         Diploma/Technical Degree in Related field         Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience in a busy organization. 2.
