Job Purpose Summary
The role of the site supervisor is to assist the Shelter Field Officer in ensuring efficient and high-quality implementation of the technical construction activities in Informal Settlements in Arsal. The Site supervisor is expected to represent Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) Lebanon in a respectful and professional manner and always act in accordance with the NRC Code of Conduct.
Key Responsibilities
Construction
NRC’s continuous representation on the construction site.
Day to day liaison and monitoring of construction activities in Informal Settlements (including monitoring of work plan(s), quality of works, site attendance, etc.)
Selection of qualified labour in a transparent manor.
Oversite of labour attendance and output.
Monitoring accuracy of technical implementation against technical plans, including adhering to Lebanese regulations, accuracy of work plans, necessary tests, measurements and BoQs.
Along with the Shelter Field Officer, monitor expenditure of works on a regular basis.
Along with the Shelter Field Officer, insure quantity and quality control of works and materials – including necessary tests.
Ensure that all necessary filing related to the construction activities is accurate, complete and up to date.
Management of labour team if required.
Along with the Shelter Field Officer, promote the highest level of health and safety on the site of Consultant, Contractor and NRC’s staff as well as building occupants and third party visitors.
Coordination with others
Plan activities on a daily and weekly basis in coordination with the SFO, to ensure efficient implementation of activities.
In coordination with the rest of the team, assist the beneficiaries by:
- Clearly describing NRC technical project information in meetings when required.
- Offering technical advice and support.
- Provision of accurate information about NRC and its activities.
Others
Carry out any other duties as requested by the SFO, SSO or PC..
Reporting
Be present on Site on a daily basis, providing regular (weekly notes) reports to the line manager using NRC’s reporting templates.
Qualifications and Competences
Academic and Professional Qualifications
Diploma/Technical Degree in Related field
Relevant Experience
Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience in a busy organization.
Knowledge, Skills & Personal Attributes
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational and team working skills
Good cultural awareness and sensitivity
Highly approachable, trustworthy and confidential
Good English Language level
Knowledge of the NGO operations and the dynamics of the humanitarian sector is a plus
