Job Purpose Summary
The ‘SFA – shelter hand over’ ensures that shelters are handed over to newly arrived refugees and are clearly marked as occupied. S/he ensures that each family receives the correct number of shelters according to their family size and that the location of their shelter is accounted for in the database. S/he issues a daily report of the number of occupied shelters.
Key Responsibilities
Social activities
Greet newly arrived refugees who have shelter tickets and accompany them to their allocated shelter
Collect their tent ticket and ensure that their ration card is stamped.
Record the ration card number and location of the family.
Mark the tent as occupied with spray paint.
Stamp and sign the labour tent handover form
Communication activities
Coordinate with the ‘TFA – shelter set up’ to ensure sufficient numbers of shelters are erected for new arrivals.
Coordinate with the ‘TFA – shelter set up’ to ensure shelter locations are known before escorting new arrivals.
Coordinate with the ‘TFA – shelter set up’ and UNHCR to ensure shelter allocations for special cases are in the correct locations (eg. Accessibility to latrines for disabled)
Reporting activities
Daily report; number of shelters allocated, number of families sheltered, number of single cases(male and female) sheltered.
To perform other related duties as identified by the supervisor when requested
Support in Administrative work when needed
Qualifications and Competences
Academic and Professional Qualifications
Bachelor degree
Relevant Experience
Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience in a busy organization.
Knowledge, Skills & Personal Attributes
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work under pressure and stress
Ability to work outside in various weather conditions
Strong organizational and team working skills
Good cultural awareness and sensitivity
Highly approachable, trustworthy and confidential
Good English Language level
Knowledge of the NGO operations and the dynamics of the humanitarian sector is a plus
