Technical Field Assistant

Job Purpose Summary TFA’s role is to collect technical data about buildings in need of rehabilitation and the works needed to repair them and to supervise the ongoing repairs and ensure that these meet NRC’s standards. Key Responsibilities Data collection activities Carry out technical assessments of buildings in line with NRC’s project criteria, in order to aid the assessment of the need (from the technical aspect) for a shelter intervention such as minor rehabilitation works, major construction works and/or any other future intervention Produce accurate drawings, reports, measurements (BoQs) and/or photographs as evidence of a technical assessment Facilitation of technical implementation Supervise the contractors work in the assigned houses. Assist beneficiaries with technical advice on how to complete their works at the expected quality and budget. Keep accurate data of all the technical information and ensure that all beneficiary files are complete Provide technical assistance to any other NRC staff as required and for the purposes of training and/or writing of project proposals Ensure and promote efficient and cost-effective use of NRC’s assets  and resources in order to maximize funding to beneficiaries  Reporting activities Data entry To share ideas with the TFO to fulfill the beneficiaries’ needs To arrange meetings with the beneficiaries when necessary to discuss issues. Report daily to the TFC. To perform other related duties as identified by the supervisor when requested Conduct technical assessments and quick surveys of shelters Follow up implementation of work for each assigned house at every stage Create a supervision plan for all assigned houses Provide certification of eligibility to receive installments Report troublesome cases to TFO  Qualifications and Competences Academic and Professional Qualifications Diploma/Technical Degree in Related field Relevant Experience Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience in a busy organization. Knowledge, Skills & Personal Attributes Good communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational and team working skills Good cultural awareness and sensitivity Highly approachable, trustworthy and confidential Good English Language level Knowledge of the NGO operations and the dynamics of the humanitarian sector is a plus Construction technical knowledge Achievement indicators Delivering working tasks in a structured and professional manner, according to a daily activity plan Meeting deadlines Applying to the NRC standards, policies and guidelines Adapting and coping to change Communication with impact and respect Make sure that NRC criteria is well communicated to all beneficiaries Accuracy in measurements and pricings
