Water And Sanitation Officer (Ssu/ssb)

These attitudes and believes shall guide our actions and relationships.  1.      Role and responsibilities The WSO is responsible for implementing WASH/Shelter project activities within the Bekaa area. General Responsibilities Coordinate the Water and Sanitation activities according to strategy, proposals, budgets and plans Ensure adherence to NRC policies and donor requirements Involve and inform communities and community leaders about the activities Break down the annual operational plans into weekly, monthly and quarterly implementation plans Coordinate with relevant partners Ensure that procurement, development and distribution of materials and equipment are timely and according to procedures Supervise, train and develop the team both on team and individual level Prepare periodic progress reports and other documents as required Investigate and facilitate introduction of new technology, methods and approaches in order to improve the quality of the activities Specific responsibilities Hands-on capacity building of water and sanitation assistants Monitor, assess and implement associated WASH interventions in an urban context Monitor water and sanitation facilities acceptance and beneficiary satisfaction Continuous focus on improving the quality of the team Continuous focus on cost-management: ensuring cost-effective implementation Focus on high quality outputs, and evidence-based project management Critical interfaces Shelter: coordinate in close collaboration with Shelter technical and Social teams in relation to shelter activities in Small Shelter Units. ICLA: ensuring the team is ready to deal with referral cases and follow up communication. 2.      Competencies Professional competencies Academic Qualifications: Bachelor degree in Engineering or/and Water and sanitation related studies Generic professional competencies for this position: Experience from working within Water and Sanitation Projects in a humanitarian/recovery context Knowledge of plumbing and water networks Knowledge of AutoCAD is an advantage Ability to see WASH project in the bigger holistic approach of NRC Knowledge of MS Office (words and excel) Proficient in English, both written and verbal Context related skills, knowledge and experience (shall be adapted to the specific position): Knowledge of the context of Refugees informal settlements and/or urban settlements Experience with start-up of projects Strong capacity building knowledge 2.
