Community Kitchen Chef

Detailed Job Description

Lead and manage daily operations of the community kitchen, ensuring timely preparation and distribution of meals.

Design and plan nutritious, balanced, and culturally appropriate meal menus.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen space in line with health and safety regulations.

Manage inventory of food supplies, equipment, and kitchen resources, coordinating restocking as needed.

Train, supervise, and support kitchen staff and volunteers to ensure smooth daily operations.

Ensure all meals are prepared following strict food hygiene and safety standards.

Work closely with Nusaned’s program team to align meal distribution with broader community initiatives.

Engage with local suppliers and donors to optimize food sourcing and maintain cost efficiency.

Perform any additional tasks, when requested by the Project Manager.

Reports to: Project Manager.
Supervisory Responsibility: Community Kitchen Team.
Collaborates and Works with: Field Officers, Facility workers, Volunteers.

Knowledge and Experience

Proven experience as a Chef or Cook in a community kitchen, restaurant, or catering environment. 

Experience working in an NGO or non-profit organization is a plus.

Strong leadership skills and experience managing teams in a fast-paced kitchen setting.

Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation practices. Certification in this area is a plus. 

Ability to plan balanced, nutritious meals with consideration for local dietary preferences.

Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.

Strong communication skills in Arabic; English proficiency is a plus.
