• Creates and maintains beneficiaries’ pharmacy files on paper and in the Health Information System
• Welcomes patients and visitors and orient them to the right procedure
• Interprets and transcribes medication information on required documents and reports
• Provides updated lists of available medication to primary healthcare center’s physicians
• Reviews drugs prescriptions for any drug-drug interactions, drugs duplication, or inaccurate dosages and resolves them with prescribing physician
• Dispenses drugs and refills ensuring they are in line with prescriptions and with good dispensing practices
• Prepares the order of medicines in the right scientific ways and pursuing orders
• Completes the prescription data and the clarity of its contents before it is disbursed to the patient
• Interacts and educates beneficiaries on their medications (usage, necessity to adhere to the treatment, drug interaction…) and on healthy lifestyles
• Receives patients that need acutes medications
• Verifies medical reconciliations in beneficiaries’ files and checks for compliance
• Checks completeness of beneficiaries’ medical files and coordinates with the Nurse to ensure all missing information (laboratory results, imaging tests results, ICD10 diagnosis, …) is added
• Checks that working areas are organized and clean
• Manages pharmacy stocks in compliance with good storage practices (receiving and quality-checking of drugs, drugs storage per category, expiry dates, rotation with respect to first expired first out (FEFO), shelves replenishment, …)
• Communicates with central warehouse Chief Pharmacist and orders monthly needs for stock replenishment
• Coordinates with the physicians for switching medication and patient treatment
• Trains and develops Pharmacy Assistant(s) and monitors performance and results
• Supports the assistant pharmacist in the chronic files
• Performs periodic and annual pharmacy inventory
• Completes and compiles required pharmacy records and reports to be presented to the Ministry of Public Health and the Order of Malta
• Answers incoming beneficiaries calls and Physicians and Paramedical team questions regarding medication
• Performs necessary data entry on the system
• Maintains the pharmacy area clean
• Abides by Ordre of Malta Lebanon’s code of ethics, mission, vision, and values
• Perform other related duties required by the Center Administration and the Chief Pharmacist
V. Requirements
5.1 Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy
• Registered at the Order of Lebanese Pharmacist
• Permit of practice from the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a position requiring drug stock management
5.2 Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
• Patient file management
• Detail-oriented and accurate
• Communication skills
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and under stressful situations
• Ability to adhere to ethical considerations and guidelines
5.3 IT and languages
• Computer literate, good knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of Health Information (such as Phenics)
• Fluency in Arabic, English and French
