Introduction
Oxfam is a global movement of people, working together to end the injustice of poverty through campaigning and responding to the needs of the poor. Oxfam has been working in Lebanon since 1993. We provide humanitarian assistance to vulnerable people affected by conflict, and we promote economic justice and good governance, and women’s rights. Oxfam also works with local partners to contribute to the protection and empowerment of marginalized women and men.
Description
As a part of an intervention to ensure the supply of clean water to Bakhoun in the north of Lebanon, Oxfam plans on distributing Menstruation hygiene management kits (MHM) in both the north of Lebanon (Al Donnieh) and Al Chouf (Daraya) for young girls and women, all while implementing educational and awareness activities. with the goal of mainstreaming water awareness and promoting water conservation within their daily lives, this awareness is to be done in a child friendly manner.
Objective
Oxfam is looking for a service provider to:
- Deliver puppet shows for targeted participants in the north of Lebanon aged between 6 to 12 addressing the topic of water awareness, and conservation.
The purpose is to:
- Engage the community as a whole to partake in the act of water conservation and the mainstreaming of the latter, all while spreading awareness throughout the area about the importance of water in daily life.
Job Description
The consultant will provide the following deliverables and allow for comments and proposed revisions on them:
- Develop a comprehensive action plan and timeline for the delivery of shows in collaboration with Oxfam’s technical team
- Develop the concept and the script in collaboration with Oxfam’s technical team.
- Install the necessary tools on-site (stereo systems, microphones, etc) as need be.
- Deliver puppet shows related to water awareness and conservation.
- Follow Oxfam’s protection and child safeguarding policies.
- Follow Oxfam and donor's guidelines (which will be made available by Oxfam)
Oxfam will:
- Support in providing background and context on the project and coordinating on show days and the required guidelines.
- Provide the materials and contents to be used within shows.
- Approve action plans and timelines.
- Provide feedback when need be.
Qualifications
- Availability to start in March 2023, and to travel to North Lebanon and Daraya for the events.
- Skills and experience in conducting entertainment activities.
- Experience in working with children and adolescents.
- Ability to adapt content to fit specific age groups.
- Familiarity with the context of vulnerable Lebanese and refugee communities amidst multi-faceted crises in North Lebanon.
- Previous experience working with I/NGOs in Lebanon in similar contexts is a plus
- Working languages: English and Arabic
- Excellent coordination and communication skills, flexible attitude.
Duration: End of March 2023 till the end of June 2023.
Working days and timelines to be agreed on with Oxfam’s technical team.
