Awareness raising videos – COVID-19 and Vaccination in Tripoli among Lebanese and Syrian communities

ToR – September 2021

Description

Oxfam has been working in Tripoli with vulnerable Lebanese and Syrian refugees, providing cash assistance, protection services, and community advocacy.

Oxfam has conducted community consultations via a tool called Community perception tracker that enables staff to analyze the perceptions of communities during disease outbreaks, and based on those changes, the objectives and format of this activity were developed.

Objective

Oxfam is looking to produce a series of videos which embodies 2 subtopics based on perceptions shared by both Lebanese communities and Syrians refugees.

The purpose is to highlight the following topics:

  1. General awareness about the COVID-19 virus through obtaining a testimony from a community member who got infected by COVID-19 to explain what they went through after totally believing of its nonexistence. His or her intervention will be coupled with that of a healthcare professional who will give information about prevention measures and answer FAQs about the virus.
  2. Sharing credible  information on the relationship between nutrition and increased immunity and shedding lights on misconceptions in that regard. This will be done through a series of questions asked by the women groups to a nutritionist in a meeting that will be filmed and edited.

The videos will aim to:

  • Raise awareness about the existence of COVID-19 pandemic by having a healthcare professional answer common misconceptions or beliefs about COVID-19, in addition to discussing preventive measures.
  • Shed light on the symptoms of COVID-19 through an interview conducted with a person who previously did not believe in the virus but has contracted COVID-19 to share their symptoms, experience and realizations.
  • Clarify the relationship between nutrition and increased immunity and how accurate and factual specific food are or are not in preventing or healing COVID-19

 Format

The videos produced will feature a man or woman who did not believe in COVID-19 and then contracted it, in a conversation with a medical professional, and a nutritionist who is asked questions by the women groups.

Through this format, we aim at creating relatability between our audience and the characters featured so we can make sure the messages are well received and understood by the community.
