Cashier Finance Assistant

Oxfam are looking for a motivated and experienced individual to work in the busy position of Cashier.  The Cashier will support the Finance team and the wider team as a whole, keeping the day-to-day accounts accurately documented and also leading on the archiving of financial data and documents.     KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares Cash/Cheque Voucher for payment requests, and ensures that all claims are properly supported with receipts, authorised, paid on time, stamped PAID and recorded in the cash books. Ensures  that all vouchers/payments request carry the appropriate budget codes, approval level and original copies/complete supporting documents Check and verifies float liquidation reports up to $500 and ensure that unused/excess in float is returned and as well as the float deficit is paid upon clearance of the float. Prepares regular cash reconciliations and  monthly bank reconciliations Liaise to the bank for cash withdrawals and other bank related transactions. Maintains/Updates the Balance Sheet Registers Liaise to the field for the UCG and CFW distribution and interventions. Assists the Finance Officer on  capacity building, in ensuring implementation of  financial procedures and control, and audit requirements. Takes charge and ensures that all files/documents are filed/archived/secured in a regular/timely manner. May go to the field with programme staff on site visits and spending verifications. Do other tasks as assigned and agreed with her/his line manager.     SKILLS AND COMPETENCE: At least 3 years bookkeeping experience with intermediate knowledge of accounting practice and principles More than satisfactory numeracy skills, and a good knowledge of computerized finance and information systems and procedures (Windows, Word, Excel, PPT, Internet and email) Computer-literate, highly adept in computer programs and applications related to job demands A team worker; at the same time, an independent self-starter Ability to work with minimum supervision combined with the ability to work as part of a multi-cultural team and reliable, consistent and very keen to details. Good in English, Arabic, oral and written communication skills Willingness to travel frequently, sometimes to remote areas
