OUR TEAM

The project “Resilience and Social Stability: creation of temporary employment opportunities to support municipalities to manage the economic and social consequences of the Syrian crisis” is a project funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation that will be implemented by Oxfam in the municipalities of Bqaa Sifrine and Bqarsouna in Dinnieh area in the North Governorate. The project implementation will last 10 months and it’s in partnership with Department for People and Nature Association (DPNA). The aim of the project is to contribute to support Social Stability in the Municipalities of Bqaa Sifrine and Bqarsouna implementing a temporary employment scheme with the double-fold objective of improving access to income for Lebanese and Syrians and of rehabilitating public spaces in the 2 selected communities.

JoB Purpose

To support the team in Oxfam’s livelihood activities in the North Governorate.

key Responsibilities

Programme:

  • Work in close consultation with the programme manager to ensure appropriate follow up with the municipalities
  • Interface with communities as needed
  • Ensure that project documentation is accurately completed, compiled and returned to the Finance Department in a timely manner.

Monitoring:

  • Conduct regular onsite monitoring visits, track project progress and flag issues
  • Track project activities and support the partners, ensuring streamlined paperwork and decision making between Tripoli and Beirut.  
  • Organise bi-annual reflection meetings with all project partners
  • Contribute information to a log of all 'lessons learnt" during the project

 

Reporting and Data Management

  • Report regularly to the Programme Manager, and technically coordinate with the EFSL Coordinator on the progress of implementation and challenges encountered against targets set, highlighting constraints and propose solutions
  • Participate in and maintain a timely and appropriate flow of information up and down the management line (including programmatic information, security issues, etc.) and horizontally with partners

skills, experience and knowledge

Essential

 

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Development Studies or equivalent;
  2. At least 1 year of experience in working with communities in humanitarian or development contexts, in particular with displaced or refugee populations
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to motivate, influence and negotiate both internally and externally, strong English and Arabic skills.
  4. Previous experience in working in partnership with national organisations
  5. Good computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly Excel
  6. Strength in interpersonal, communication and report writing skills
  7. Willingness to work in insecure environments and a high level of adaptability and initiative

 

 

Desirable

 

  1. Experience working in North Lebanon, with preference for applicants residing in and/or have experience working in Tripoli.
  2. Experience entering data and maintaining databases
  3. Administrative experience
  4. NGO experience
