The Role: As Gender Policy & Advocacy Advisor you will contribute to the advocacy efforts of the Gender and Influencing Hub with a focus on ensuring the advocacy, policy and media objectives of the Syrian Voice and Accountability Project are met.   About the MECIS Region The Middle East and Commonwealth of Independent States (MECIS) region implements and manages programmes in Yemen, Occupied Palestinian Territories, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Russia, Tajikistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. The majority of people living in poverty are women and girls, and so this focus helps us to achieve our mission to overcome poverty and suffering.   Useful Information Contract Length: 12 months KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead on Voice media and advocacy: Work with partner and Oxfam staff to develop and deliver creative advocacy and media work to support the Voice project objectives. Work with Oxfam Syria Response Media team and Oxfam media colleagues to deliver on high profile media work. Work with partners, Oxfam staff and external stakeholders to conduct an ongoing analysis of the changing environment to understand who the power holders are in Jordan and Lebanon, so as to target advocacy more effectively. Provide capacity building support for partners in the area of advocacy based on identified needs. Carry out proactive outreach work to build relationships with a range of other stakeholders in support of the project’s advocacy work, including supporting partners to network. Support Gender Justice Hub’s advocacy and policy efforts:   Collaborate with advocacy staff in other organisations to develop common analyses and shared learning to support advocacy efforts.  Liaise with a range of external stakeholders to identify and develop alliances for advocacy. Ensure strong monitoring and evaluation of advocacy. Work closely with the regional Campaigns and Advocacy team to deliver change on policy and practice across the (MENA) region, with a focus on gender, women’s rights and policy. Contribute to work that engages and mobilises Civil Society actors in Lebanon and Jordan, with a focus on Gender and Syria Crisis Response.
