JOB PURPOSE: To ensure the advocacy and media objectives of the Women’s Access to Justice Project – Phase II are met.
BACKGROUND ON THE PROJECT: The Women’s Access to Justice in the MENA region (WAJ) project – Phase 2 is a three year initiative proposed to be implemented by Oxfam in partnership with six NGO partners in Lebanon (two), Jordan (one),Yemen (two), and Egypt (one). It is designed to build upon the successes of Phase 1, implemented April 2011 – March 2014 in Lebanon, Jordan, and Iraq (Kurdistan) as well as on Oxfam’s long-standing legal protection programme implemented in Yemen. The project’s development objective is to contribute to equitable access to formal and informal justice for poor and vulnerable women in the targeted countries. Women’s access to justice is considered to include three pillars: ability of women to use existing justice institutions, supportive environment for women seeking to access justice, and an accessible justice system with fair and gender-sensitive mechanisms for justice provision.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead on all aspects of the Women’s Access to Justice – Phase II (WAJ2) advocacy and media work.
Work with partners and Oxfam staff in all targeted countries to develop and deliver creative advocacy and media work to support the WAJ 2 project objectives.
Work with partners, Oxfam staff and external stakeholders to conduct an ongoing analysis of the changing environment to understand who the power holders are in targeted countries, so as to target advocacy more effectively.
Provide capacity building support for partners and stakeholders to support them to advocate for their rights.
Work closely with project beneficiaries to develop evidence base for wider advocacy and media work.
Carry out proactive outreach work to build relationships with a range of other stakeholders in support of the WAJ 2 advocacy work, including supporting partners to network.
Ensure strong monitoring and evaluation of media and advocacy work.
Support Gender Hub teams on media and advocacy as needed.
Liaise with media, communication, and advocacy teams in the region for increased coordination, collaboration, learning and impact.
