Public Health Promoter

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:   Assessment and Programme Design: In Collaboration with other members of the WASH team, participate in assessments and baseline studies in order to identify WASH-related health risks and priorities. Collect record and interpret qualitative and quantitative data. Work with MEAL team in PDM according to agreed sampling frame. Programme Implementation: Implement PHP activities in WASH emergencies e.g. baseline data collection, formation and training of WASH committees and community based hygiene volunteers, working with logistics on targeting, delivery and monitoring of NFI distributions, design, implementation and monitoring of IEC strategy. Ensure PHP interventions appropriate for the local context and culture. Manage a team of APHP and Community Mobilises (CM) Implement interventions for specific target groups, e.g. schools, youth groups, men, religious leaders. Carry out capacity building activities with Oxfam staff, partners and CM. Support others to monitor and report against key WASH and health indicators. Programme approach: Contribute weekly PH team review and planning meetings. Assist PH team in developing work plans and program activities. Provide weekly update reports(including data collects, and key achievements for the week) Provide regular and reliable narrative reports. Staff Management: Manage (direct management) APHP and community mobilises team which works effectively with PHE colleagues. Provide day to day management of APHPs and community mobilises including performance management with support of national PHP and PHP TL. Assist in capacity needs assessments of APHPs and CM Capacity Building initiatives for Partner PHP Team. Logistics: Work with logistics to ensure timely delivery and distribution of Hygiene kits and WASH NFIs Coordination: Provide technical coordination of field teams to ensure coherent and consistent programming. Maximise the value for communities of integrated working with PHE and Logistics colleagues.    SKILLS AND COMPETENCE:      Knowledge of one or more of the following: public health, health or hygiene promotion, community development, education, community water supply and sanitation. Academic or professional qualifications are essential.   Graduate from a recognised university (public health is preferred) Good knowledge in public health promotion. Able to collect, enter and analyse data against project indicators. Knowledge in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning is a plus. Good Organisational awareness. Good Communication and interpersonal skills. Effective member of a team and role model, demonstrates creativity in seeking better ways to do things and shares with team, and promotes high standards. Takes responsibility for own work and delegated project/processes (including some leadership). Demonstrates developed communications skills. Strong commitment to gender equality and social justice. Good written and spoken English and Arabic, spoken Arabic is essential. Proven knowledge and skills is computerised systems in common software e.g. ward, spreadsheet etc. Ability to work under pressure, ability to prioritize and commitment to meet deadlines. Ability to travel extensively. Potential and flexibility of attitude to learn
