Public Health Promoter Assistant ( 2 Roles )

  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assessment and Programme Design § In collaboration with other members of the WASH team, participate in assessments and baseline studies in order to identify WASH-related health risks and priorities. § Collect, and  record qualitative and quantitative data § Assist the PHP Officers in developing work plans and program activities.   Programme Implementation: § Implement PHP activities in WASH emergencies e.g. baseline data collection, formation and training of WASH committees and community based hygiene volunteers, working with logistics on targeting, delivery and monitoring of NFI distributions, implementation and monitoring of IEC strategy § Implement interventions for specific target groups, e.g. schools, youth groups, men, religious leaders § monitor and report against key WASH and health indicators.   Programme approach: § Apply Oxfam’s minimum requirements on accountability to beneficiaries in the implementation of PHP activities § Raise awareness and build capacity of Oxfam staff in adhering to Oxfam and international humanitarian standards   Programme planning and reporting: § Contribute to the weekly PH team review and  planning meetings § Reflect on programme experience to contribute to PHP /WASH learning review   Staff Management § Assist  PHP Officer in providing  day to day management of community mobilisers   Logistics § Assist  PHP Officer in ensure timely distribution of NFIs   Coordination § Assist PHP Officer to provide technical coordination of field teams to ensure coherent and consistent programming. § Communicate with PHEs team § Collect and report community level programme information for submission to coordination mechanisms.       SKILLS AND COMPETENCE:   Education: University degree and experience in either: : public health, health or hygiene promotion, community development, education, community water supply and sanitation. Academic or professional qualifications are essential.   Desired skills   Leadership and team player ; Demonstrates creativity in seeking better ways to do things and shares with team, and promotes high standards. Takes responsibility for own work Anticipates problems and regularly provides solutions. Understanding of development and relief issues and practise in a particular specialism. Demonstrates developed communications skills. Good written and spoken English is a plus Spoken Arabic is essential Excellent knowledge of area of work and increasingly contribute to team planning. Proactively assumes more responsibility and/or more difficult areas of work in agreement with manager. Contributes to development of programme initiatives.
