- Background
The overall objective of the project is to ensure that people have capacities to promote, achieve and sustain mental health and psychosocial well-being. The target areas is 5 selected Palestinian camps in which PRCS-L hosts community centers, and the project will directly support both community members as well as staff/volunteers of the PRCS-L.
The project will support the renovation and rehabilitation of 5 PRCS-L community centers located in 5 different Palestinian camps and gatherings (Naher el Bared in North, Borj Brajne in Beirut, Qasmieh and Borj Chemali in Tyre and Ein el Helwe in Saida)
Additionally, the project will establish five Child-Friendly Spaces within these centers. To further support the mental health of PRCS-L staff and volunteers, the project will provide a training package focused on self-care and stress management.
- Purpose, Objective and Audience
Purpose
- The videos will be used to show the renovation work in the community centres, reflect the changes made, and serve as a tool for fundraising, advocacy, and raising awareness about PRCS-L’s impactful mental health and psychosocial services.
- The video will also be used to highlight the importance of MHPSS activities within communities and showcase the impact of such programs
- The video will be one of the communication and visibility products produced under the project. They can be disseminated through online channels, websites, etc. They will also be screened during various meetings and programs with partner national societies, relevant stakeholders.
Objective:
The main objective of this consultancy is to create three video documentaries to showcase the work of the Palestine Red Crescent Society – Lebanon branch (PRCS-L). The three documentaries will be focused on the following topics:
1. Documenting the work PRCS-L is doing, the challenges in the communities, interviewing key PRCS-L staff and volunteers and people from the community
2. Documenting the positive impact of the Children Affected by Armed Conflict (CABAC) and Caregivers programme; and the importance of the Psychosocial First Aid (PFA) training for staff, volunteers and nurses
3. Documenting the rehabilitation work of up to 5 PRCS-L Community centers;
In addition to a shorter versions of the videos that can be used for social media platforms.
Audience:
The primary audience includes direct stakeholders (beneficiaries, donors, PRCS-L staff/volunteers), while secondary audiences are the general public and advocacy groups. Videos will be tailored to highlight specific aspects of the project to different stakeholders.
- Methodology
Pre-production:
- Consultation meetings with the project team to understand the project in-depth and outline the key process, steps and impact of the MHPSS activities and Centres renovation that needs to be showcased in the video.
- Prepare a detailed work plan, shooting schedule and timeline in coordination with the project team and also prepare a set of questionnaires for interviews.
- Develop and finalize scripts in coordination with the project team. The script will be finalized in Arabic. Each video will have English subtitles.
- Visit the camps to capture footage.
Production:
- Shoot the footage project-supported activities.
- Take footage of the existing centre structure showing the Before state of them. Take also footage during the renovation work and after work being concluded to shaw the after results at the end of the work.
- Conduct interviews with the CABAB and Caregivers participants, capturing their stories and experiences.
- Conduct interviews with PRCS-L nurses, capturing their stories and experiences.
- Capture the importance of the PRCS-L community center during the open day showing community presence, children’s engagement in CFS provided and volunteers engaging with them.
- Ensure the safety and dignity of the people being filmed and obtain their consent in the format that will be provided by PRCS-L.
- Use creative techniques and angles to make the visuals more engaging and informative.
Post-production:
- Edit the footage into a cohesive and compelling narrative, using music, sound effects, and graphics to enhance the storytelling.
- Ensure the quality of the videos and photos.
- Put titles and subtitles in each video. The subtitles will be English. Utilization of easy-to-understand and dignified terminologies.
- Receive and address feedback and inputs from the team members to finalize the video throughout the process.
- Roles & Responsibilities
- The consultant will be responsible for capturing and showcasing the best story for the video production.
- The consultant will lead and execute the overall videos production process in close collaboration with PRCS-L.
- The Consultant shall provide PRCS-L with the draft of each material and await approval from PRCS-L prior to finalizing. Several rounds of edits in video-editing may be required.
- After each round of comments provided by PRCS-L team, the Consultant should return the edited video within one day.
- Ensure consent (GDPR consent forms) is received from individuals who are highlighted during the videos.
- Communicate with the assigned focal person from PRCS-L on the agreed schedule.
- The consultant will be responsible for their own movement arrangements and logistics. The project team in the field will extend the required support if necessary.
- The Consultant shall submit the final videos on an external Hard disk drive and through an online sharing platform and should provide editable versions of all materials.
- Skills and Requirements
- An experienced team comprised of a scriptwriter, videographers and others as necessary. The role of each member in the production process must be clearly expressed.
- At least three videos of relevant professional experience in producing videos and documentaries.
- A creative team who is passionate about storytelling and conveying messages through videos.
- Ability to collaborate and address inputs at each stage of production provided by the consortium members.
- Excellent knowledge of Arabic, and knowledge of the culture in the project area will be an asset.
- Knowledge of humanitarian communication, diversity and inclusion in team composition, previous work and experience will be given high priority during the selection process.
- Financial Proposal
Submit a financial proposal in USD including all applicable VAT/tax, with a detailed breakdown of cost and its related activity.
