Crochet Trainer (Skilled Trainer)

1. CONTEXT AND JUSTIFICATION
1.1. CONTEXT

Lebanon witnessed a renewed escalation on 2 March 2026 in South Lebanon, resulting in additional displacement, increased humanitarian needs, and heightened protection risks. the escalation led to the displacement of families from southern villages toward safer areas, including collective shelters in Saida and surrounding locations. Many displaced households arrived with limited belongings, reduced access to services, and continued uncertainty regarding return.
The displacement has placed additional pressure on collective shelters and host communities, while increasing vulnerabilities among women, girls, children, older persons, and persons with disabilities (PwDs). Families affected by the escalation continue to face protection concerns linked to overcrowding, lack of privacy, limited access to safe spaces, and disruption of social support networks.
Adolescent girls and women in collective shelters may also face challenges in accessing safe and confidential support services. Children are exposed to additional risks, including distress, neglect, school interruption, and negative coping mechanisms.
The escalation has also affected the psychosocial well-being of displaced individuals, who continue to experience fear, anxiety, stress, isolation, and uncertainty. Persons with disabilities and older persons face additional barriers in accessing activities, information, and support.
In response, there is a need for structured and inclusive activities within collective shelters that provide a safe and supportive environment, strengthen social cohesion, and contribute to psychosocial well-being. Creative activities such as crochet can support stress reduction, positive coping, confidence-building, and interaction between participants.
Première Urgence Internationale (PUI) therefore seeks to recruit a skilled Crochet Trainer to design and facilitate structured crochet sessions in two collective shelters in South Lebanon under the FLD26002 and FLD26017 projects as part of the response to the March 2026 escalation.
