Communication Advisor

1- GENERAL OBJECTIVE

The part-time Communication Advisor will be an integral member of the Grants & Communication Department.

The Communication Advisor’s objectives are to create, implement, supervise, monitor and evaluate communication activities. S/he will also maintain a close working relationship with the Consortium Coordinator to support the implementation of the program’s communication plan.

2- RESPONSABILITIES AND TASKS

1. DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT PROJECT-SPECIFIC COMMUNICATION PLANS

  • Support the implementation of project specific communication plans, including developing communication products, coordinating communication events, etc.;
  • Regularly review project communication plans and, in cooperation and agreement with AFD partner, update them when needed;
  • Propose communication and visibility activities in line with budget and timeframe of the project;
  • Provide information on communication activities for the donor when required;
  • Supervise, monitor and evaluate implementation of the activities against the communication plan.

2. PRODUCE CONTENT TO FEED COMMUNICATIONS CHANNELS

  • Lead the production of content (i.e. photos, videos, texts and translations) to be published on different platforms. This will include travel to project sites;
  • Gather content from different project teams and manages the creation of communication material such as stories, photos, infographics, newsletters, brochures and any other information material;
  • Develop content (photos, texts, videos) for social media networks;
  • Support in identifying topics and angles for communication purposes;
  • Identify topics for general communication purposes and for meaningful dates along the project and context timeline;
  • Support partner organizations in communication aspects by answering requests and supporting/advising them;
  • Develop new communication activities between partners when required.

3. COORDINATION AND MANAGEMENT

  • Develop and update PU-AMI Lebanon Communication Strategy with clear milestones and deliverables;
  • Organize and facilitate regular exchanges with field teams and partners to discuss communication needs;
  • Support the Grants & Communication department in developing communication material for specific purposes when needed;
  • Be responsible to independently coordinate communication activities with internal and external stakeholders, such as logistics, finance departments and suppliers;
  • Ensure solid documentation and archiving of all activities and focal points in the communication sector;
  • Provide capacity building to Grants and Communication Officers and Project Teams on communication guidance and content creation

4. PRIORITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT

  • Support the implementation of project-specific communication plans, including supporting the organization of communication events;
  • Develop cross-cutting communication products and templates for the Lebanon Mission (factsheets, videos, posters, etc.);
  • Develop communication strategy, policies and guidance for the Lebanon Mission;
  • Create a shared database for photos, videos and other communication resources;
  • Develop modules and provide training to field teams on communication-related topics as needed.

 

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Education Degree: at minimum BA degree in Graphic Design, Communication and/or Journalism;
  2. Work experience: Previous experience of at least two years in a similar position;
  3. Language Skills: fluent in Arabic and English, French advantageous;
  4. Knowledge & skills:
    • Great organization or coordination skills
    • Knowledge of the humanitarian and/or health sector would be an asset
    • Pro-active attitude
    • Good photography and/or video recording and editing skills, and ability to use technical equipment (video, photo) including recent ones.
    • Ability to use new software, to use social media networks
    • Capacity to adapt quickly and meet deadlines
    • Good understanding of the communication/media sectors
    • Computer skills: Microsoft office, Canva, DaVinci, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, (or similar software)
