Community Health Specialist

  1. ENSURE PROPER IMPLEMENTATION OF COMMUNITY HEALTH ACTIVITIES
  • Monitor the implementation processes at all stages and ensure field level monitoring of the quality of implemented activities;
  • Work together with the community health teams in the identification of topics for health education and health promotion, taking feedback and lessons learned into account to improve services provision;
  • Take lead in the selection and update of the health education sessions’ topics and liaise with the Protection teams to include protection-related topics;
  • Take lead in the design and identification of Information Education and Communication (IEC) materials used to improve the knowledge of the target population during health education sessions;
  • Develop surveys and tools to measure the impact of community health intervention in the field;
  • Oversee the organization and implementation of community mobilization events or campaigns;
  • Support the Health team in the scale-up of the new approach intervention strategy at the community level;
  • Develop training needs assessment plans and take lead in the capacity building of community health supervisors and volunteers as well with partners if needed;
  • Support the MEAL Department for the development of survey and other needs assessment requested;
  • Liaise with the MEAL team to conduct any MEAL activities related to community health intervention;
  • Participate in the evaluation of the humanitarian situation in the region;
  • Coordinate with field bases and partners/stakeholders to define catchment areas and proper mapping of service providers for referral and collaboration;
  • Identify partners for collaboration and referral;

  • Together with the community health teams, make sure the referral mechanism is in place and remains functional. Develop tools to track proper implementation of referrals for services;
  • Define NFI kits items, quantities, and type based on needs and project framework;
  • Revise and draft SOPs, TORs, and activity forms related to community health intervention in line with health strategy and project’s framework;
  • Ensure liaison with protection team on inclusion;
  • Follow up on community-based surveillance system and ensure proper implementation;
  • Define and draft SOPs of Birth Emergency Cash Assistance (BECA) and ensure proper implementation through continuous monitoring and follow-up.

 

STRENGTHEN THE COORDINATION AND REPRESENTATION AT THE CENTRAL LEVEL BETWEEN HEALTH ACTORS/STAKEHOLDERS IMPLEMENTING COMMUNITY HEALTH PROJECTS 

  • Upon delegation from the line manager and Health Coordinator, S/he will represent PU-AMI during external bilateral and multilateral meetings and coordinate regularly with health actors, stakeholders, and partners.

  • Strengthen coordination between health actors implementing community health projects by sharing accurate updates and information on the services provided;
  • Monitor challenges to health access and shares useful information on these services to her/his field team;
  • Make sure to provide minutes of all the meetings attended and raise any issue that is in PU-AMI interest;
  • Upon delegation from the line manager, represent PU-AMI in RCCE and any other community health-related forums or task force;
  • Liaise with consortium partners and other PU-AMI departments on integrated approach including (but not limited to) SGBV and protection;
  • Work on harmonizing the operational scope of all volunteers at mission level.

 

PROVIDE REGULAR AND ACCURATE REPORTS AGAINST TARGETS, ACHIEVEMENTS, SUCCESS STORIES OF THE PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION, AND PRODUCTION OF RELEVANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROJECT ACTIVITIES

  • Regularly provide reports on training, staff capacity building, and technical support provided to the bases running community health activities;
  • Compile and draft reports against indicators, challenges, and achievements;
  • Support in providing sufficient and detailed information for program reporting to donors and PU-AMI HQs.
  • Based on the ongoing monitoring of the activities, ensure lessons learned and success stories from the project are documented and reported;
  • Understand the needs, humanitarian response, and Donors’ strategies, participate in the strategy development and propose new interventions according to needs identified in his/her field of operations.
  • Support in drafting concept notes and proposals in regards to community health components and outreach activities as well develop dashboards related to progress.

Mandatory requirements
  1. Language Skills: Fluent written and spoken English, Arabic;
  2. Education degree: Registered Nurse, Midwife or holds a degree in any medical/paramedical field with relevant experience;
  3. Work experience: At least 3 years of experience in projects development and/or implementation, as well as community activities’ interventions;
  • Experience in capacity building and training;
  • Strong experience in designing educational material;
  • Experience in working with different projects tasks in a short deadline;
  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis methodologies required;

 

  1. Computer skills: Microsoft Office (word, excel, power point)

  • Master’s in Public Health.
