Consultant for Training of Trainers
on Psychological care of students.
Première Urgence – Aide Médicale Internationale (PU-AMI) is a non-profit, non-political and non-religious International Non-Governmental Organisation (INGO). The INGO’s objective is to bring a global response to the basic needs of populations suffering from acute humanitarian crisis, to allow them to recover and lead them to autonomy and dignity.
PU-AMI’s involvement in the Syrian Crisis is strong, with a wide range of programs implemented in most of the countries affected by the conflict (Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Irak).
In Lebanon, PU-AMI intervenes in several sectors: shelter and rehabilitation, infrastructure, WASH, food security and livelihoods, health, IS/CS management and protection, and education and psychosocial activities in three regions, namely the Akkar district in North Governorate, Beirut and Mount Lebanon Governorates, and Saida and Jezzine districts in the South Governorate.
GENERAL INFORMATION
PU-AMI is working to improve the access to education in two public schools in the Akkar district : Borj el Arab and Arab el Mafraq public schools. The action aims to build the resilience of the host community through the development of positive teaching methods, psychosocial support, psychosocial care, and the creation of safe community spaces within schools. In order to improve the capacity of the teachers and key school actors to ensure the child protection and spread good practices on conflict resolution as well as non-violent communication, PU-AMI will organize a training for teachers on PSS and non-violent communication with children.
During the past three years, PU-AMI has been implementing work sessions with teachers and directors in villages in Akkar, with the purpose of improving and developing their knowledge on psyschosocial well-being of children.
As part of these sessions, teachers and directors were sensitized on psychosocial care methods in order to better catch children’s attention. PU-AMI would like to have a similar approach in Borj el Arab and Arab el Mafraq public schools. PU-AMI aims at developing teachers’ awareness on psychosocial care and enhance the children’s

attention and wellbeing at school. For this reason, PU-AMI will organize a two days’ training on the following topics.
Thematics: Training of trainers (ToT) on Psychosocial Care (2 days)
Components: Introduction to PSS, psychological first aid, non-violent communication, conflict resolution, diversity, positive discipline, overcoming failure.

OVERALL CONSULTANCY MISSION General objective
To improve teachers and school’s staff knowledge and capacity on psychological care of their students.
Specific objective
- To reinforce teachers and directors’ capacities through a complete information about psychosocial support and psychosocial care.
- To sensitize teachers and directors on the importance of children’s well being at school and its impact on their attendance and participation at school.

The two trainings will take place in Halba (20 participants) and will be organized according the following steps :

After the trainings, the teachers and directors will be fully aware of the concepts and values of PSS, the ways to provide children with psycho-social support, the use of non-violent and constructive communication with students. This will allow them to build a healthy educational environment, develop and maintain children’s interests at school. This intervention will positively impact the childrens’ well being.
The training must be provided in arabic but the support documents will be translated into english.
The training should be adapted for the scope of the participants (teachers and directors) and their knowledge. It should be balanced between theorical and practical sessions and exercises. Discussion with participants must occur to adapt the training contents to their needs and inquiries.

INPUT PROVIDED BY PU-AMI
PU-AMI will have the responsibility of the training organization (participants invitation and transportation, availability of the training room, logistic support for the projection equipement, refreshments).
OUTPUTS EXPECTED FROM THE CONSULTANT
The consultant must provide the following elements:
Before the training:
A complete training presentation (PPP) with the pedagogic support in arabic with english translation.
After the training:
A list of tools and guidelines for directors and teachers to help them sustain the psychosocial care of their students.
QUALIFICATIONS
Mandatory requirements
Language skills: Fluent in Arabic and in English.
Education degree: Diploma on Education, Child Psychology or other relevant thematic.
Work experience: Previous experience in training of teachers on similar topic. A previous similar experience in Akkar is an asset.
Computer skills: Power Point.
Other:
- Excellent communication and animation skills
- Capacity to adapt the training considering the level of the participants and their activities field.
- Strong experience in training of trainers
- Experience and knowledge about Akkar or North Lebanon context
