Overall Objective

Under the direct supervision of the Protection Team Manager, the Social Worker (SW) is in charge of the implementation and supervision of community-based activities, including life skills, psychosocial support, awareness sessions, as well as engagement and training of community members and community-based organizations in the area of intervention. Based on the context and in case of emergency, the GBV SW is deployed to support the emergency response and collaborate with other teams.

The GBV Social Worker is responsible for supporting the start-up and the implementation of prevention and community-based activities, promoting community mobilization, and participating in community-based events. The GBV SW provides support in the design and implementation of the life skills, community-based PSS and GBV sensitization sessions – supporting integration with SRH, health and MHPSS topics. The GBV SW is also responsible in mobilizing and identifying community members in the area of intervention and conducting training on GBV related topics. In close collaboration with the Protection Team Manager, GBV Specialist, the GBV SW will organize community-led safety audits and accessibility assessments to provide recommendations and to organize in site visits and distribution of dignity kits.

Tasks and responsibilities

- GBV & COMMUNITY-BASED PROTECTION ACTIVITIES: provide technical support to healthcare staff while planning assessments and developing community-based activities to empower vulnerable populations.

- CAPACITY BUILDING: Deliver comprehensive GBV and protection training—including core concepts, inclusion, and clinical management—while developing tailored materials and methodologies to address identified needs among staff, partners, and community members.

- EXTERNAL COORDINATION: Represent PU-AMI in coordination mechanisms and sub-national working groups while organizing stakeholder meetings with municipal officials and community organizations to present GBV and protection interventions.

- DATA MANAGEMENT & REPORTING: Manage all GBV-related data by maintaining accurate, confidential records and developing collection tools, while providing comprehensive monthly and quarterly reports on activity progress, successes, and challenges to the line manager.

Specific objectives and linked activities

1- GBV & COMMUNITY-BASED PROTECTION ACTIVITIES

- Act as GBV and Gender technical focal point at base level, in close coordination with the GBV Specialist; 

- This includes technical support to healthcare staff to provide quality and timely care as needed;  

- Plan and organize needs assessments (i.e. FGD, KII), safety audits and accessibility assessment to ensure GBV and protection interventions are relevant to the needs and delivered in a safe and inclusive manner;  

- Contribute to the development and the adaptation of GBV activities (life skills, PSS, awareness sessions) aimed at protecting and empowering affected communities, including women, girls, men and boys;  

- Support the development of IEC material and interactive sessions to raise awareness on GBV topics, PSEAH key messages, and provide information on the services available to refugees and other vulnerable host communities; 

- In close coordination with the PTM, develop activities plan and lead on outreach efforts to engage communities and community-based / women-led organizations to participate in GBV activities; 

- Ensure timely and quality implementation of project activities, along with accurate data collection; 

- Prepare monthly payments for OVs / GBV Community Focal Points in accordance with approved timesheets and organizational procedures;  

- Identify materials needed for activity implementation and raise purchase requests for material needs related to community-based activities; 

- Coordinate with PUI colleagues to track and ensure timely GBV referrals made to other actors, and follow up on referral status to ensure service delivery for the Person of Concern (PoC); 

- Participate in trainings, case conferences and meetings in coordination with the GBV Specialist;  

- Regularly coordinate with the Referral Officers, and actively contribute to the maintenance of an up-to-date service mapping / referral pathways in the area of implementation; 

- Conduct field monitoring visits regularly to provide support to the outreach volunteers / GBV Community Focal Points, as well as other stakeholders (i.e. partners, healthcare staff) as relevant; 

- Contribute to mainstream GBV and Gender in activities implemented by other teams at base level. 

2- CAPACITY BUILDING

- Conduct training for community members and OVs (i.e. GBV core Concepts, Safe identification and referrals; Gender, Intersectionality, Disability and Inclusion, etc); 

- Train Case Workers, staff from partner organizations, and GBV Focal Points on GBV and protection-related topics, including GBV Core concept and Clinical Management of Rape.  

- Support development of training materials, as well as suggest new training topics and methodologies, based on identified needs on the ground. 

3- EXTERNAL COORDINATION

- Organize information meetings with a wide range of stakeholders (i.e. CBOs, WROs, municipal officials) in concerned municipalities to present PU-AMI GBV/Protection intervention; 

- Participate in GBV sub-national working group meetings to keep abreast of updates and ensure PUI is regularly represented in coordination mechanisms.  

4- DATA MANAGEMENT & REPORTING

- Collect, document, and maintain accurate records of all GBV activities—including attendance sheets, participant feedback, and session reports—while ensuring timely and confidential data entry into relevant databases and tools, in line with data protection standards. 

 - Support the development and review of tools and templates for data collection related to GBV activities; 

- Provide monthly and quarterly activity reports to the line manager (tracking sheets, narrative reports, etc.) for monitoring and reporting purposes; 

- Report on progress of GBV activities to the line manager, including successes and challenges; 

- Report on any trend related to protection and propose adaptation measures. 

The tasks and responsibilities defined in this job description are non-exhaustive and can evolve depending on the project’s needs. 

Required knowledge and skills

Professional Experiences : 2 years, preferably with NGOs; Social Sciences License or equivalent diploma

Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Good knowledge of Protection minimum standards, GBV principles and PSEA 
  • Good knowledge and experience in Community-Based Protection Activities 
  • Capacity to building meaningful relationship among the communities  
  • Strong facilitation skills 
  • Contextual awareness 

Languages: Fluent in Arabic and good command of English (speaking, reading, writing)

Software: Good command of Word and Excel

PUI-AMI Employment Conditions and Benefits: 

Status: A Fixed-Term Contract  

40-hour work week from Monday to Friday. 

Monthly Gross Income:  1676 USD based on PU-AMIs internal salary scale. PU-AMI deducts income tax and automaticaly registers employees to NSSF  

Seniority Allowance of +2% monthly increase of your basic salary after 1st year of employment. Seniority allowance is gradual and grows of +2% every year.   

Insurance Medical Insurance class B for employee and spouse with a possibility to upgrade to class A based on employees contributions.
