 PREMIERE URGENCE   AIDE MEDICALE INTERNATIONALE -         LEBANON    -                                                            Hygiene & Community Supervisor Application deadline: 15th July, 2013   Première Urgence - Aide Médicale Internationale (PU-AMI) is a non-profit, non-political and non religious humanitarian NGO. Its objective is to bring about a global response to the basic needs of populations suffering from acute humanitarian crisis and to allow them to recover their autonomy and dignity.   Today, PU-AMI is intervening in 21 countries in Africa, the Near East, Caucasus, Asia and the Caribbean to cover the needs of populations affected by conflict, natural disasters or economic crises.         PU-AMI in Lebanon   PU-AMI has been active in Lebanon since 2001 implementing emergency and recovery projects in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, in Shelter Rehabilitation and in Livelihood Recovery sectors.   PU-AMI is implementing two WASH projects in support of the areas affected by Syrian refugees’ influx in Akkar and Minnieh-Dannieh Districts. The projects activities include supply of safe drinking water (upgrading of water supply scheme, water filter distributions, installation of water tanks...), setting up of safe environmental sanitation (excreta disposal, waste water disposal, solid waste management...) and hygiene promotion (hygiene facilities, distribution of hygiene and baby kits, hygiene sessions...).           POSITION GENERAL INFORMATION   Ø Position: Hygiene & Community Supervisor Ø Based in: Halba Akkar Ø Supervised by: WASH Project Manager. Ø Supervising:Hygiene & Community Field Officers Ø Starting date: 1st August, 2013 Ø Application deadline: 15th July,2013 Ø Duration: 2 Months (extendable as funding is secured)   OVERALL MISSION   General objective   Under the supervision of the WASH Project Manager, the Hygiene & Community Supervisor is responsible for the qualitative, quantitative and timely implementation of the Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene activities but especially the objectives linked to community mobilization and hygiene promotion activities. He/she coordinates and monitors the work of all Field Officers dedicated to these activities and he/she is responsible for a qualitative and regular reporting on various components of the project.   Responsibilities and tasks   Ø Activities implementation -      Take part in the assessment, design and implementation of all program activities but mainly community mobilization, hygiene awareness sessions, hygiene/baby kits distributions, KAP survey and monitoring of hardware and software activities; -      Plan (daily and weekly) the field activities, supervise Field Officers and ensure a follow-up of the different activities regarding the agreed planning, guideline, and required quality of the works; -      Ensure that all measures have been taken and rules followed to ensure security on-site; -      Give an expertise and contribute to the improvement of activities through critics, analysis and suggestions; -       Support and participate to the other activities of the WASH team when required.   Ø Assessment, monitoring & evaluation of activities -      Assess regularly the WASH situation and determine population needs; -      Collect any relevant information from the communities and partners; -       Analyze and monitor the results of the hygiene promotion and community mobilization activities.   Ø Management / Community mobilization -      Supervise the Field Officers and ensure the respect of all human resources rules; -      Responsible of the communication between PU-AMI and the Communities regarding the implementation of the WASH activities; -      Introduce the WASH activities to the Communities; -      Mobilize and encourage the Communities for the activities (daily and free worker); -      Organize meeting with Communities according to the different MoU; -      Evaluation of the team under his/her responsibility.   Ø Logistic & administration -      Define the needs in materials and tools regarding the program and the planning of interventions; -      Ensure the follow-up and the proper use of materials and tools used during on-site works; -      Manage the supply of materials to the work site in collaboration with logistics department; -      Use the PU-AMI forms for all exchange with the logistic & administration services; -      Analyze the security situation in the area and inform the WASH Project Manager, the Area Project Coordinator and the Head of Base on the security incidents.   Ø Capacity building -      Train the Field Officers for their activities; -      Develop any pedagogical and methodological tools adapted to the local context.   Ø Reporting -      Collect all information and orally reports on the progress of Water Supply & Sanitation activities on a daily basis; -      Make a weekly report in English on the progress of activities; -      Report immediately any delay, problem or other relevant information to the WASH Program Manager; -      Communicate with the other sectors to homogenize the methodology and the conditions of intervention.     QUALIFICATIONS   Mandatory requirements   Ø Language skills: Fluent in Arabic and English (speaking/reading/writing) Ø Education degree: Baccalaureate/University degree in health, social or medical sciences Ø Work experience: 2 years experience in a similar position (NGOs/private companies) in health, social and education fields Ø Computer skills: Good knowledge of the MS office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook Ø Other: -         High knowledge in hygiene, health, community mobilization, social works -         Good management and pedagogical skills -         Good knowledge of North Governorate, willing to travel a lot locally and valid driving license -         Excellent communication and diplomacy skills to manage relationship in potentially tense situations   Assets   Ø Other  knowledge: -      Good skills in reporting Ø Interest -      Strong motivation to help people in needs -      Understanding of the political situation in the area Ø Transversal skills -      Well organized -      Conflict resolution and diplomacy experience -      Ability to analyze and suggest improvement -      Ability to take initiative to deal with difficulties encountered in daily work -      Ability to adapt or change priorities according to the changing situation within a mission or the organization itself -      Autonomy, neutrality -      Hard worker -      Able to manage stress and pressure   Responsibilities and activities defined in this job description are not exhaustive and can evolve depending on the project needs.   Please join the details of managers who can provide us with professional references for your last works.    Note: Only those applicants meeting the above mentioned requirements will be contacted for an interview (with written test).     How to apply?
