Meal Field Officer

Under the supervision of the MEAL Manager, the MEAL Officer will implement MEAL activities in the field in order to be accountable to all stakeholders.
The MFO position’s major objectives are to properly achieve the following tasks:
-Implementation of activities of the MEAL plan in collaboration with the program teams;
-Providing accurate qualitative and quantitative data collected in the field ; 
-Supporting the MEAL unit to achieve its goals through the occasional undertaking of additional activities that contribute to the ability of the organization to achieve its stated outputs. 

RESPONSABILITIES AND TASKS

Role and Responsibilities                   
  • MEAL: She/he will implement all MEAL field-related activities;
  • Logistics and Administration: She/he will express and anticipate  logistical and administrative needs related to MEAL activities he or she is implementing;
  • Safety and Security: She/he will follow safety and security rules on base and will transmit all safety and security information to the MEAL Manager.

 

1.Implementation of the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning plan

  • Use lessons learnt combined with field experience to provide contributions and feedback during design phases of field tools and assessments;
  • Provide timely feedback on tools and templates;
  • Collect data required by the relevant template/tool;
  • Participate in team workshops and lessons learnt seminars;
  • Lead field testing and small scale sampling in the field;
  • When needed, liaising with other departments to ensure accurate data collection;
  • Follow and adhere to available SoP’s and Guidelines;
  • Work on/with the referral systems when needed.

 

2.Internal and external reporting

  • Verbally contribute and participate within weekly unit meetings including accurate reporting on success and challenges;
  • Clean the data that is collected each day;
  • Provide weekly or monthly reports as needed or requested by the MEAL Manager or Team Leader;
  • Ensure all data is uploaded each day;
  • Accurate reporting on and submission of referrals when needed.

 

3.Capitalization/Institutional Knowledge Building

  • Active engagement in ongoing trainings and knowledge building;
  • Potentially leading training with new staff members within the MEAL unit if needed.

 

4.Communication & Follow up

  • Respond to beneficiaries’ queries with good knowledge of relevant information when approached;
  • Refer cases from the field and ensure serious follow up on the referral process;
  • Respond to any requests within PU-AMI that might require an alternative communication method or plan of action;
  • To maintain open links with the MEAL unit to ensure communication remains constant and respond to any lessons learnt or capitalizing processes.

 

The tasks and responsibilities defined in this job description are non-exhaustive and can evolve depending on the project’s needs.

ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Identify potential negative impacts of the activities.
  • Monitor that crosscutting aspects like gender and “do no harm” are taken into account in the activities.
  • Make regular reports to the team lead on the evolution of activities and specific tasks confided to him/her, problems encountered, and the quality of relations with beneficiaries 
  • Bring to light any difficulty linked to his or her activities, to the programs of PUI or security concerns

 

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

  • Language skills: Fluent in Arabic and working English (speaking/reading/writing),
  • Education degree: Secondary diploma,
  • Work experience: Experience in NGOs/On-site training in social or monitoring work,
  • Knowledge & skills: Good analytical and writing skills/Very good team spirit/ Demonstrate willingness to improve own knowledge and skills by participating actively in any training sessions and capacity building activities,
  • Computer skills: Knowledge of the MS office software (including Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strongly desirable to have a valid driver’s license in case of field needs.
