Shelter Field Officer

The Shelter Field Officer, as part of the Shelter and WASH Team, will be working on Shelter activities, including, but not limited to, construction and rehabilitation of shelters, upgrading of sanitation facilities, and distribution of relief items at field level, in the framework of PU-AMI’s Program in Lebanon. She/he works in close collaboration with team members of the Shelter and other departments, under the supervision of the Senior Management. He/she contributes to and is part of conducting surveys and collecting needed information from the field following the Team Leader and Project Manager guidelines. The Shelter Field Officer spends most of his/her time in the field and is in regular and direct contact with beneficiaries.   Responsibilities and tasks   1.      Activities implementation -       Ensure the timely distribution of shelter relief items to beneficiaries; -       Implement shelter activities, included but not limited to rehabilitation and construction of (individual and collective) shelters,           rehabilitation and upgrading of sanitary facilities, and distribution of kits. -       Guarantee the respect of Minimum International Standard as communicated by Team Leader and Project Manager; -       Ensure respect of security rules and report immediately to the team leader and security manager any accident happening ; -       Ensure the identification and referrals of needs following PU-AMI guidelines and in collaboration with the Team leader; -       Provide technical advice to beneficiaries and guide beneficiaries in the work done; -       Ensure compliance with PU-AMI’s strategies and methodologies at field level, following and adhere to available SoPs and                 Guidelines; -       Support WASH team, if requested by the line manager; -       To Participate in team workshops and lessons learnt seminars; -       Participate actively and constructively in team meetings.   2.      Communication & Follow-up -       To participate in the field work and respond to beneficiaries’ queries with good knowledge of relevant information; -       Ensure referral of cases in need following PU-AMI internal referral mechanism -        Communicate PU-AMI’s policies at field level when needed; -       Report complaints received from beneficiaries and be transparent in front of them -       Follow up with regular communication with the beneficiaries.   3.      Reporting -       Report immediately any delay, problem or other relevant information to the Shelter Team Leader; -       Report on the progress of Shelter/WASH activities on a daily and weekly basis. -       To collect and report the data corresponding to the activities implemented, respecting the templates, timeframe and existing             procedures; -       Contribute and participate within weekly unit meetings including accurate reporting on success and challenges.   The tasks and responsibilities defined in this job description are not exhaustive and can evolve depending on the project needs.     QUALIFICATIONS   Mandatory requirements: -          Valid driving licence (for 2 years minimum) -          Demonstrate willingness to improve own knowledge and skills by participating actively in any training sessions and capacity              building activities -          Excellent geographical knowledge of the Area of Responsibility -          Willingness and ability to travel within the Area of Responsibility   Assets   Interests -          General interest in Humanitarian Relief Work General skills -          Excellent communication and diplomacy skills -          Ability to manage relationships in  potentially tense situations -          Strong motivation to help people in need -          Ability to analyse and suggest improvement -          Well organized and hard worker -          Ability to manage stress and pressure -          Neutral and impartial in all situations
