Shelter Field Officer

General objective   The Shelter Field Officer, as part of the Shelter Team, works on Shelter activities, including but not limited to : construction and rehabilitation of shelters, upgrading of sanitation facilities, and mainly distribution of relief items at field level, in the framework of PU-AMI’s Emergency Response and Development Program in Lebanon. The Shelter Field Officer works in close collaboration with team members of the Shelter and other departments, under the supervision of the Senior Management. He/she contributes to and is part of conducting surveys and assessments, collecting and processing of information, and reports. The Shelter Field Officer spends most of his/her time in the field and is in regular and direct contact with beneficiaries.   Responsibilities and tasks  1.     Activities implementation -        Ensure the timely distribution of shelter relief items to beneficiaries (main activity to be ran by the Field Officer) -        Supervise and carry out the implementation of shelter support activities, including but not limited to rehabilitation and construction of (individual and collective) shelters, rehabilitation and upgrading of sanitary facilities, and cash assistance (when needed) -        Ensure respect of security rules and report immediately to the team leader and security manager -        Ensure identification & referrals of needs and potential beneficiaries to assessment team -        Provide technical advice to beneficiaries -        Ensure compliance with PU-AMI’s strategies and methodologies at field level -        Communicate and defend PU-AMI’s policies at field level -        Participate actively and constructively in team meetings   2.     Communication & Follow-up -        Participate in the field work and respond to beneficiaries’ queries with good knowledge of relevant information   3.     Reporting -        Report immediately any delay, problem or other relevant information to the Shelter Senior Field Officer/team leader (by writing) -        Report orally on the progress of Shelter activities on a daily and weekly basis.   The tasks and responsibilities defined in this job description are not exhaustive and can evolve depending on the project needs.   QUALIFICATIONS   Mandatory requirements   Education Degree: Secondary degree Work experience: management on-site training in construction social work, experience with NGO is an asset but not mandatory. Language Skills: Fluent in Arabic and good in English Computer Skills: Good knowledge of MS Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook Other requirements -        Valid driving licence (for more 1 year minimum) -        Demonstrate willingness to improve own knowledge and skills by participating actively in any training sessions and capacity building activities -        Excellent geographical knowledge of the Area of Responsibility -        Willingness and ability to travel within the Area of Responsibility -        Capacity and experience in working unsafe environments   Assets Interests -        General interest in Humanitarian Relief Work and social issues  General skills -        Excellent communication and diplomacy skills -        Ability to manage relationships in  potentially tense situations -        Strong motivation to help people in need -        Ability to analyse and suggest improvement -        Well organized and hard worker -        Ability to manage stress and pressure -        Neutral
