Trainer for Positive Parenting Sessions in Akkar

The Trainer for positive parenting has the knowledge and practical skills to carry out sessions with women and men, the overall objective being to improve child outcomes; either by increasing the parent's knowledge, skills or capacity as a caregiver, or by improving parent-child interactions, parent outcomes such as parent wellbeing, or family outcomes such as family relationships.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

 

1. To organize and facilitate positive parenting group sessions for caregivers.

2. To provide targeted support to caregivers on child development techniques.

3. To work with parents to reduce the risk of abuse or neglect and any other adverse experiences.

4. To support parents to enhance their own parenting skills and create a nurturing bond with their children.

5. To help build relationships between the child and the caregiver to develop positive nurturing contact  

     where it is safe to do so.

6. Support and mentor the parent to improve their households in order to provide a safe, stimulating and

     nurturing home environment for their children.

7. To support parents to look at their own early experiences and the impact this may have.

8. To support parents to participate effectively in their child plan.

9. To refer beneficiaries to specialized services when needed.

10. To network effectively with other NGOs involved in providing support and protection to the child.

 

Qualifications and Experiences:

  • The trainer should be experienced in facilitating group sessions with caregivers, both women and men.
  • Demonstrate the ability to handle difficult emotions and ensures to conduct a proper closure; abiding by the Do No Harm principle.
  • At least 2 years of experience in implementing similar modality of activities.
  • University degree in psychology, social work, social sciences and / or other relevant degrees.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills (including active listening).
  • Comfortable in communicating in Arabic language; English for reporting is a must.
  • Flexibility in working hours and willing to work in volatile environments.
  • Knowledge in Child Protection minimum standards or principles.
  • Previous experience in working with refugees or / and vulnerable population is a plus.
  • Experience in remote modality of activities’ implementation is a plus.
