The English Language Support Assistant will be responsible for observing the daily delivery of the English educational material provided in the school.
The English Language Support Assistant will be under the supervision of the Education Field Officer.
The tasks will include but not be limited to:
Assists in the on-going evaluation of the achievements of the students including assessing and reporting learning outcomes.
Acts responsibly and ethically in all children-related matters.
Attends teachers’ and school staff trainings provided by Relief International.
Assist and guide teachers on how to give relevant teaching methods in English that best meet students’ needs.
Observe how the English language is given by the teachers in order to pinpoint any mistakes so they can work upon it.
Write down daily what (s)he had done and observed.
Suggests any necessary amendments to the used curriculum and advises on the addition of any material or activities into the curriculum in accordance with the Education Field Officer.
Informs the responsible Education Field Officer in case any verbal or physical abuse or other improper behavior with the students is suspected.
Give objective feedback on teachers and classrooms.
Reports directly to the Education Field Officer or the school supervisor in case any incident happens.
Respects the students and treats them in a kind and understanding manner.
Uses an appropriate language while addressing the students and does not shout or use improper words.
Be accurate with time and directly informs the Education Field Officer or the school supervisor in case of urgent or anticipated delay.
Provides the Education Field Officer and the school supervisor with a 2 weeks notice in case of unwillingness to continue the work and assists in finding a replacement.
Abides by Relief International Sexual Exploitation & Abuse Policy, and the Drug Free Work Place Statement, and the Child Protection Policy.
Performs other work-related duties as discussed and agreed upon by the Education Field Officer.
Position requirements:
Experience in working with children and child-friendly approaches.
Dynamic and highly motivated.
Creative thinking with a child-oriented approach.
Understands refugee contexts and is compassionate while working with refugees.
Native Arabic speaker with excellent skills in English.
Good reporting skills.
Computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
