Position Summary:
The Medical Advisor will be in charge of providing clinical and technical mentoring and supervision to the RI supported health centers in Bekaa. The Medical Advisor will oversee and maintain performance improvement processes for the ceters, review results of patient satisfaction surveys and patient complaints, supervise physicians and nurse practitioners in the centers, assist staff with treatment modalities in alignment with Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses (IMCI) guidelines, and review input from medical staff on their ideas and concerns.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Draft a monthly schedule for PHCCs field visits in coordination with the Public Health Officer
- Follow-up on implementation of a basic package of primary health care components at the centres
- Ensure provision of reproductive health, child health and integrated management of childhood illnesses, nutrition, communicable disease control and management of non-communicable diseases services in accordance to WHO and MOPH guidelines
- Engage directly with physicians at the health facilities, review clinical guidelines and protocols and discuss patient treatment plans where needed
- Develop Standing Operating Procedures based on the facility needs
- Monitor prescriptions and approve the requests for diagnostic tests ordered by the PHC centres physicians
- Monitor medication prescription and encourage balanced use of medications
- Identify goals and develop quality improvement plans for the PHCCs and follow up on the corrective action plans
- Support the health staff in delivering quality health services
- Closely monitor the epidemiological situation in the area with the aim of timely responding to all health related emergencies, including controlling the prevention and spread of communicable diseases in the targeted areas
- Participate and support the campaigns launched by the sector and MOPH
- Participate in coordination meetings when requested by the Program Manager
- Participate in weekly staff meetings and submit reports on time
- Assist Program Manager in conduction of training for RI tea, health facility staff and the OVs
