Mental Health Psychosocial Support Supervisor - Bekaa

Under the supervision of the Mental Health Manager, the MHPSS Supervisor is responsible for:

  • Assist in the coordination of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) activities among different mental health staff and with PHCC’s staff.
  • Coordinate with the case-management team (social workers, community mental health workers) on the implementation of all MH interventions and activities.
  • Sensitization and capacity building among PHCC’s staff, the refugee community and host population about MHPSS.
  • The planning, supervision, and coordination of mental health / Psycho-social related services in the program in order to provide the most appropriate mental health support for patients.
  • MHPSS supervisor must be hands-on utilizing standard assessment tools, recognizing mental health priority, providing structured clinical assessments and clear case formulation
  • She/he will also be responsible for monitoring the performance of the Mental Health team and tracking project indicators to ensure that targets are met, and objectives of the MH project are achieved.
  • Doing monthly report, reporting all the needs from the field and the staff.

 

 

 

  1. Key responsibilities

 

Accountability and Complexity

  • The Job holder should take decisions related to the accountabilities and tasks outlined above while coordinating directly with the Mental Health Manager. Any decision beyond her/his realm or responsibility should be discussed with the Mental Health Manager.
  • The job holder will be part of the team members who will be located at Bekaa’s office, with weekly travel to the North office. However, daily field visits to RI’s supported PHCCs and its catchment areas to assess refugees’ mental health status is an integral part of the job description. The job holder will have frequent travel to Bekaa and Beirut office based on the Mental Health Manager’s request.
  • The job holder will be also responsible to build strong relation and coordination with the mental health taskforce at MOPH  in BML and North and attend relevant meetings when requested by Mental Health Manager.

 

Capacity building tasks

  • Build the capacity of the PHCC staff, Case Manager Assistant and Community Health Workers (CHW’s ) or outreach volunteers (OV’s) by providing technical supervision and mentorship on safe identification and referral of Mental Health (MH) cases based on MOPH guidelines. The job holder should properly identify and report any gaps to the direct supervisor in order to take corrective actions accordingly and within the right timeframe.
  • Ensure that adequate information and data is being provided in the most effective and efficient manner in order to ensure a solid understanding regarding the MOPH. The Job Holder should be competent in utilizing various tools in order to ensure that the audience is well trained and receiving the right level of information.
  • Provides regular technical supervision and mentoring to the Mental Health Team (Case Managers, Psychologists, and Social Workers) in order to ensure the quality of services provided.
  • Provides the Mental Health Team with capacity building trainings on various Mental Health topics according to their needs and the needs of the beneficiaries.
  • Supervises the work of the Clinical Psychologists, Case Managers, and Social Workers and provides technical support.
  • Develops a capacity building plan for the MH team to ensure that they have the needed support for development.
  • Monitors the quality of services provided by RI’s Clinical Psychologists, Case Managers, and Social Workers and suggests improvements accordingly.
  • Ensures harmonization of RI’s MH interventions across health projects.
  • When needed, gives psychological support to patients according to Relief International protocols to improve mental health conditions of patients and enhance their functionality.
  • Compiles the data and statistic linked with MH activities and report to the MH Manager.
  • Offers clinical counselling supervision to the MH team in collaboration with the Mental Health Manager.
  • Ensures the patient’s related information is kept confidential.
  • Under the guidance of the MH Manager, ensures the multi-disciplinary team meetings are regularly taking place.
  • Organize frequent case discussions between the MH team in BML/North for their guidance and supervision of complicated cases.

 

 

 

Outreaching activities and networking

  • Conducts Outreach Activities in close coordination with RI’s Case Managers, Clinical Psychologists and CHW’s or OVs and support the team to conduct MH assessment at field level;
  •  Builds a network with MH actors in BML and North areas to refer cases based on their needs to case management units or specialized services;
  • Coordinates with the National Mental Health Program (NMHP) focal points and other MH platforms in BML and North areas for smooth coordination and collaboration as well as RI’s external visibility on MH activities being implemented.
  • Receives referrals from the field (CHW’s or OVs and RI’s Case Manager Assistant) and from MH actors in BML and North areas and provide them with psychotherapy and follow up based on a fixed schedule at RI’s Supported PHCCs.

 

Reporting and Documentation

  • Conducts monthly reporting of MH activities on Activity Info;
  •  Monitors the psychological progress of the beneficiaries and refer cases to advanced therapy whenever required;
  •  Follows up on the Clinical Psychologists data documentation and monthly data collection and segregation of MH cases;
  • Regularly updates the Mental Health Manager on the overall progress of the Mental Health indicators.
  • Submits monthly reports as per agreed deadlines.

 

Miscellaneous

  • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism while working or coordinating with beneficiaries, their family members and all internal or external parties. Any incident or work-related conflict should be immediately reported to the Mental Health Manager. The Job holder should avoid going into any work-related communication which might jeopardize the relationship of RI with any party;
  • The job holder should demonstrate a high level of cultural sensitivity, professionalism, politeness and objectivity when dealing with the beneficiaries under all circumstances;
  • The Job holder should be able to provide structured clinical assessment plans and develop consistent treatment plans.
  • Attends MH Taskforce meetings at central and field levels when requested by Mental Health Manager;
  • Under the supervision of the Mental Health Manager, discusses and resolves any issues that the Mental Health Team may face;
  • Under the supervision of the Mental Health Manager, adjusts the Mental Health strategic interventions as necessary, in order to meet the Mental Health targets;
  • Closely monitors the progress of the Mental Health indicators in order to make sure that the Mental Health targets are reached; Ensures a healthy, open and safe working environment for the Mental Health Team
