ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Capacity building tasks
- Build the capacity of the PHCC staff, Case Manager Assistant and Outreach Volunteers (OVs) on safe identification and referral of Mental Health (MH) cases based on MOPH MhGAP guidelines.
- The job holder should ensure that adequate information and data is being provided in the most effective and efficient manner in order to ensure a solid understanding regarding the MOPH MhGAP guidelines. The Job Holder should be competent in utilizing various tools in order to ensure that the audience is well trained and receiving the right level of information.
- Provides technical supervision through mentorship to PHCC staff and OVs trained on MhGAP to ensure appropriate assessments of beneficiaries and referrals to appropriate care. The job holder should properly identify and report any gaps to the direct supervisor in order to take corrective actions accordingly and within the right timeframe.
- Provides regular technical supervision and mentoring to the Mental Health Team in order to ensure the quality of services provided.
- Provides the Mental Health Team with capacity building trainings on various Mental Health topics according to their needs and the needs of the beneficiaries.
- Supervises the work of the Clinical Psychologists and provide technical support.
- The Job Holder will also be responsible of developing a capacity building plan for the Clinical Psychologists to ensure that they have the needed support for development;
- Develops a structured training plan for RI’s Case Manager Assistant and OVs and train them on Group Debriefing Techniques such as PSS, Muscle Relaxation, etc;
- Monitors the quality of services provided by RI’s Clinical Psychologists and suggest improvements accordingly;
- Ensures harmonization of RI’s MH interventions across health projects;
- When needed, give psychological support to patients according to Relief International protocols to improve mental health conditions of patients and enhance their functionality.
- Compile the data and statistic linked with MH activities and report to the MH Coordinator
- Offer clinical counselling supervision to mental health counsellors in collaboration with the Mental Health Coordinator.
- Ensure the patient’s related information is kept confidential
- Under the guidance of the MH Coordinator, ensure the multi-disciplinary team meetings are regularly taking place.
Outreaching activities and networking
- Conduct Outreach Activities in close coordination with RI’s Case Manager Assistant, Clinical Psychologists and OVs and support the team to conduct MH assessment at field level;
- Build a network with MH actors in North to refer cases based on their needs to case management units or specialized services;
- Receive referrals from the field (OVs and RI’s Case Manager Assistant) and from MH actors in North and provide them with psychotherapy and follow up based on a fixed schedule at RI’s Supported PHCCs.
Reporting and Documentation
- Conducts monthly reporting of MH activities on Activity Info;
- Monitors the psychological progress of the beneficiaries and refer cases to advanced therapy whenever required;
- Follows up on the Clinical Psychologists data documentation and monthly data collection and segregation of MH cases;
- Regularly update the Mental Health Coordinator on the overall progress of the Mental Health indicators.
- Submits monthly reports to MOPH using standardized templates in a timely manner;
Miscellaneous
- Demonstrates a high level of professionalism while working or coordinating with beneficiaries, their family members and all internal or external parties. Any incident or work-related conflict should be immediately reported to the Mental Health Coordinator. The Job holder should avoid going into any work-related communication which might jeopardize the relationship of RI with any party;
- The job holder should demonstrate a high level of cultural sensitivity, professionalism, politeness and objectivity when dealing with the beneficiaries under all circumstances;
- The Job holder should be able to provide structured clinical assessment plans and develop consistent treatment plans.
- Attend MH Taskforce meetings at central and field levels when requested by Mental Health Coordinator;
- Under the supervision of the Mental Health Coordinator, discuss and Resolve any issues that the Mental Health Team may face;
- Under the supervision of the Mental Health Coordinator, adjust the Mental Health strategic interventions as necessary, in order to meet the Mental Health targets;
- Closely monitor the progress of the Mental Health indicators in order to make sure that the Mental Health targets are reached; Ensure a healthy, open and safe working environment for the Mental Health Team;
Job Specifications:
- MA in Clinical Psychology with a clear practicum path (at least 500 hours).
- At least one year of related experience
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to develop rapport with the patient
- Excellent communication, problem solving, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Cultural sensitivity
- Ability to adhere to ethical considerations and principles with regard to work with vulnerable populations
- Assessment skills
- Ability to provide structured clinical assessments and clear case formulation
- Ability to recognize mental health priority conditions as per the mhGAP
- Management skills
- Ability to developing a consistent and acceptable treatment plan with clear objectives
- Skilled in at least one evidenced-based psychotherapy approach
- Using different relaxation & stress management techniques
- Monitoring and evaluating the psychological progress of the client
- Experience providing clinical supervision or leading trainings is a plus
- Skilled in in or willing to build their capacity and knowledge in:
- Developing family-centered, goal and strength focused, recovery oriented care plan
- Mental health in complex emergencies (IASC guidelines, Psychological First Aid, mhGAP…)
- Biopsychosocial model in mental health
- Community-based approach in mental health
