Position Summary: The midwife will be responsible for provision of maternal and reproductive healthcare for RI's health and nutrition program in Lebanon, focusing on Syrian refugees and vulnerable host communities. The midwife will provide antenatal care, ensure safe delivery, post-partum care, in addition to recognizing and referring all critical and complicated patients to appropriate facilities. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Conduct medical examinations, diagnosis and treatment of pregnant women and other female patients. Assess the psychological condition of patient and provide comprehensive care, establish a confidential relationship with  patients, taking into consideration expectations and experiences of patients, create a confident environment, and assist patients by educating them on how  to follow the ordered treatment. Provide education on antenatal care, prenatal care, safe delivery and child spacing practices. Conduct activities on prevention of complications of pregnancy, care during the postpartum period, general health education, behavior change and preventive measures against maternal mortality. Perform screenings for pregnant patients  and refer to the medical doctor if it is necessary. Ensure that all sick pregnant patients get assistance according to standard treatment protocols. Only in consultation with the medical doctor, if necessary, refer all patients with pregnancy complications to specialist in the maternity hospital. Only in consultation with the medical doctor, arrange transportation for those who are referred.  Provide training to mothers on correct breastfeeding techniques. Train and supervise community heath workers on the identification of common danger signs of pregnancy. Work closely in coordination with the medical doctor. Strictly follow universal precautions: gloves, proper clothes, disposal of medical waste, hand washing procedures Keep the work place clean. Record and keep collected information on numbers of women seen per day and produce weekly reports using data entry formats generated by Program Manager. Participate in all the activities of the mobile team in the refugees’ areas. Participate in any activity as directed by the supervisor. Any other duties requested by Team Leader and Program Manager.   Employee is expected to be sent to the field when required.

• Required medical certifications according to Lebanese law
• Have knowledge of all aspects of normal pregnancy and complications related to pregnancy and postpartum periods, examination methods and treatment protocols.
• Knowledge of local and cultural thoughts, behaviors, and attitudes towards maternal and reproductive health.
• Ability to establish a confidential relationship with patients and educate patients on reproductive and sexual health, including pregnancy, childbirth, family planning, and STI/HIV/AIDS
