Reports to: Supervisor of RI Mobile Team
Location: West Bekaa and North Lebanon (Tripoli)
About RI: Relief International (RI), an international relief and development agency with cross-sectoral programs bridging relief and development currently seeks Nurses for RI’s health and nutrition programming in Lebanon in response to the Syria crisis.
Position Summary:
The nurse will be responsible for provision of care and supporting activities of RI’s health and nutrition program in Lebanon, focusing on Syrian refugees and vulnerable host communities. The nurse will perform registration and triage of patients, any manipulations requested by the medical doctor, health education, and other support activities for the program.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for registration of patients and following the registration book on a daily basis.
Make an individual patient health card for new patients and give them memory card with the same number.
Record basic information on individual patient health card (administrative part: name, address, phone number (if available), age, sex, status - resident/refugee.)
Conduct the measurement of the basic indicators: height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation (if available).
Triage among patients in the waiting area of mobile team’s operation to identify patients in life threatening condition and accompany them immediately to the consultations.
Identify the patients who come for follow-up of treatment (e.g. injection or dressing), register the patients who come for follow-up visits in the manipulation register book and provide them with further services.
Provide manipulation services as prescribed by the medical doctor.
Provide health education to patients.
Work closely in coordination with the medical doctor and midwife.
Strictly follow universal precautions when performing duties (gloves, clothes, disposal of medical waste, hand washing procedures).
Keep the work place clean.
Participate in any activity as directed by the supervisor.
Any other duties requested by team leader on nutrition and health.
Employee is expected to travel to the field when required.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Share the humanitarian mission of the organization.
Knowledge of the principles of triage.
Knowledge of how to get information from patient to fill out a basic patient information form.
Knowledge and skills to conduct required manipulations.
Ability to communicate clearly with patient to understand the patient’s level of understanding about his or her health issue, and to provide effective patient education.
Knowledge of universal precautions rules, and sterilization and disinfection rules.
