Project Background:
The René Moawad Foundation is currently implementing the “Strengthening Rural Development in Lebanon” project funded by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID). The project’s main aim is to create a new, more equitable and resilient production system in the apple value chain both at the individual level (small-scale agricultural producers) and collectively (through cooperatives).
RMF is seeking a qualified expert to deliver an incubation program for 6 apple agri-processing MSMEs. The program should be designed to strengthen their capabilities and ensure sustainable growth within the apple value chain. The program must feature support from consultants specialized in business development, guiding the MSMEs through phases for business consolidation. Each MSME will develop business plans that include market analysis, financial planning, operational strategies, and marketing and sales strategies. Individualized assistance will be provided for plan implementation through monitoring, problem-solving support, and strategy adjustments as needed. The program will also support the 6 MSMEs with equipment that will help establish their businesses. The expert is expected to assist the participants with identifying the required equipment needed as well as deliver a training in the use of the equipment.
Objectives:
The objective of this training is to support 6 selected MSMEs with developing their business ideas and bringing the idea to life. The training will identify the equipment required for each of the MSMEs as well as individualized organizational training for commercialization. The incubation program is designed to enhance the MSMEs capacities and ensure their sustainable growth and consolidation. The expert will accompany each MSME in the development of its business plan, providing them with individualized assistance for its implementation.
Scope of Work
The selected expert will:
- Develop an incubation program for the 6 selected MSMEs
- Deliver incubation training for the MSMEs (at least 6 sessions per group for 2 groups of 3 MSMEs each)
- Assist the participants in developing business plans and provide them with individualized assistance for its implementation
- Assist the participants in identifying the required equipment needed for the business
- Deliver training in the use of equipment, management and administration skills to agri-food MSMEs (at least 6 sessions per group for 2 groups of 3 MSMEs each)
Duration of Assignment:
Between June and August 2026
