The Rene Moawad Foundation (RMF) is seeking a “Livelihood Specialist” for its USAID-funded “Promoting Sustainable Livelihoods- PSL” Activity. The PSL is implemented over the course of 5 years (ending 2025) and aims to improve the livelihoods of residents of target communities through training, technical assistance, infrastructure rehabilitation, and marketing and improve and upgrade existing assets. The PSL goal is to sustain the livelihoods of 31,500 households across 7 clusters joining 105 municipalities in the North, Bekaa, Baalbak El-Hermel, South and Mount Lebanon areas (first phase).
Position Summary:
The Livelihood Specialist will work in close cooperation with the Chief of Party, the Livelihood Manager, the Grants Manager, RMF/PSL partners, stakeholders, and other agencies operating to seek livelihood opportunities in the targeted areas in the sectors of Agriculture, Tourism and Light Industry.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Meet with the team and review PSL completed clusters assessments/findings of available assets;
- Visit PSL targeted areas and conduct informative meetings with the team and different pre-identified stakeholders to assess community needs in terms of livelihoods versus available assets;
- Identify potential livelihood opportunities in the sectors of Agriculture, Tourism and/or light industry based on assessments’ review and field visits/informative meetings findings;
- Design livelihood/economic activities that are impactful and lead to creation of jobs and/or sustaining current ones;
- Lead technical proposal writing activities in livelihoods as part of the intervention packages to be submitted for USAID approval and ensure their economic feasibility and sustainability, where applicable.
- Contribute to and provide inputs of annual work plan, project reports, baseline data, tools and indicators for monitoring and evaluation, collection / sharing of lessons learned; and,
- Other tasks to be agreed with the Chief of Party.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in designing and implementing community level livelihood activities;
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, international development, sociology, agriculture or a related field;
- Experience in MSME development, business climate improvement, and economic strengthening activities;
- Youth/women’s entrepreneurship and value chain development experience highly desired;
- Familiarity with USAID programming, including rules and regulations; and,
- Professional proficiency in English and Arabic required.
