Child Protection Case worker

 

Under the direct supervision of the Case Manager, the Child Protection Caseworker will be responsible for implementing activities related to case management and psychosocial services, targeting vulnerable children and families including refugees and children in host communities.

 

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Child Protection Coordinator

  

Main responsibilities:

  • Identification, assessment, referral (to relevant services) and follow-up of at- high risk children and families (Case Management) including confidential documentation.
  • Provide specific support to vulnerable children by providing direct psychosocial support, identification of at high risk children and in collaboration with the Child Protection and Education team ensure their referral and registration in specialized psychosocial activities and non-formal education programs.
  • Conducting regular visits to Child Friendly Spaces and implementation centers to work with facilitators on the identification and referral of at risk-children.
  • Provide information on existing social services and how to access them in the different areas of implementation.
  • Submit weekly reports concerning implemented outreach activities, case load and related challenges.
  • Maintain files, registers, computer database and records in paper or electronic format.
  • Work as a member of a team ensuring fluid communication of relevant information in order to make sure that work with individual cases is of quality.
  • Work across different contexts, including local communities, collective shelters, community spaces etc. with a particular focus on outreach work and support in the identification, referral and case management of the most vulnerable children (in line with organizational strategy).
  • Ensure a strict adherence to the principles and minimum standards of child protection and child safeguarding at all times, including respect for confidentiality and always acting in the best interest of the child.
  • Comply with RMF policies and practices with respect to child protection minimum standards, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.
  • In agreement with CP Coordinator and Program Manager, perform other required duties within reason (in line with skills and experience).

 

.Coordination and reporting

  • Assists in the data collection and database procedures.
  • Develops implementation plans for activities on a weekly basis.
  • Maintains an accurate collection for attendance records for all implemented activities.
  • Ensures a proper explanation and utilization for M&E tools.
  • Provides activity reports, success stories or any other kind of reports regularly.

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Degree in Social Work (desirable), or degree in social sciences or development.
  • Experience in working with at-risk children and families, experience in case management in the emergency response (desirable).
  • Experience in community mobilization and conducting outreach activities.
  • Understanding of social welfare systems and child protection mechanisms.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic, and either English (desirable) or French.
  • Ability to write weekly and monthly reports, develop schedules and collect data.
  • Ability to work under pressure and willingness to work flexible hours in the event of major emergencies.

 

Knowledge and abilities:

  • One-year work experience in case management.
  • High integrity in social interactions.
  • Knowledge child protection PSS activities.
  • Skilled at working with local communities.
  • Holder of driving license.
