The Child Protection Facilitator works with adolescents and caregivers in a safe and secure environment, empowering them to tackle gender inequality and to prevent and respond to protection risks of abuse, violence, and neglect.
S/he will provide psycho-social support, mobile/center-based recreational activities, parenting sessions and community-based activities to the vulnerable beneficiaries (refugees and host community members) in the selected areas.
Position in the organization:
The Child Protection Facilitator is part of the Child Protection Project under Child Protection and Education Department and reporting to the Child Protection Project Coordinator.
S/he does not manage staff.
Main responsibilities
Mapping and assessing potential beneficiaries to the relevant project’s activities
Register and enroll adolescents and caregivers in the project activities
Disseminate information related to services for Syrian refugees and host communities
Establish peer to peer groups
Mobilize communities to participate in awareness sessions and community events
Participate and collaborate in other activities conducted in the center when needed
Mobilize stakeholders and community members to attend training and capacity building opportunities
Support caregivers to prepare peer to peer sessions and share their knowledge with other parents
Attend training and capacity building opportunities
Facilitate Life skills sessions with adolescents aged 12-18 years old and parenting sessions
Plan and prepare logistics for all center-based and mobile activities
Full coordination with the project coordinator to ensure proper implementation of the project. Plan, organize and run activities with adolescents while facilitate and encourage their participation
Ensure activities run in a timely manner to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
Ensure that adolescents are all involved in the activity
Deal with difficult behaviors (conflict, aggressiveness, introversion) and understand the reason behind the behavior to positively communicate with the situation.
Ensure Children under her/his responsibility are not exposed to any form of Harm or stress during the activities
Organize with key leaders, stakeholders and caregivers' community events and initiatives
Youth-led initiatives/ advocacy campaigns
Collect data on the activities organized and ensure that all the relevant forms are duly filled
Identify key protection issues or threats affecting adolescents and raise it to the coordinator
Refer protection and GBV cases to the social worker of the project
Ensure all project means of verifications (MOV) including attendance sheets, pre posttests, evaluation documents… are in place.
Fill and archive specific forms for referrals and weekly reporting, ensuring confidentiality, accuracy, and timeliness.
Coordination and reporting:
Assists in the data collection and database procedures.
Develops implementation plans for activities on a weekly basis.
Maintains an accurate collection of attendance records for all implemented activities.
Ensures proper explanation and utilization of M&E tools.
Provides activity reports, success stories or any other kind of reports regularly.
Knowledge and abilities
Candidates must have skills in working with people of all ages and social groups;
High integrity in social interactions.
One-year work experience in implementing recreational activities, psychosocial activities with children.
Knowledge of Cold Protection/GBV, life skills, and parenting programs.
Skilled at working with local communities.
One-year experience in a similar related job.
Holder of driving license.
