Community Health worker

The René Moawad Foundation (RMF) is seeking to recruit a “Community Health Worker” for MAKANI Programme in the North.

The René Moawad Foundation has a zero tolerance to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse of beneficiaries.  Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) is everyone’s responsibility and all staff are required to adhere to the Code of Conduct, that enshrines principles of PSEA, always (both during work hours and outside work hours).  Familiarization with, and adherence to, the Code of Conduct is an essential requirement of all staff, in addition to related mandatory training.  All staff must ensure that they understand and act in accordance with this clause.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Health Awareness and Education
    • Deliver regular health education and awareness sessions targeting children, adolescents, and caregivers on topics such as hygiene, nutrition, vaccination, mental health, reproductive health, and disease prevention.
    • Use culturally appropriate and age-appropriate tools to engage different community groups.
  2. Community Engagement
    • Conduct outreach and home visits to raise awareness, identify at-risk individuals, and promote the use of MAKANI services.
    • Serve as a trusted health resource and advocate within the community.
  3. Referral and Follow-Up
    • Identify individuals in need of medical or psychosocial support and refer them to appropriate health facilities or center-based services.
    • Maintain follow-up with referred cases in collaboration with the social worker and health officer.
  4. Coordination and Collaboration
    • Coordinate with the center’s team (including protection, education, and nutrition staff) to ensure health-related needs are addressed through an integrated approach.
    • Participate in internal and external coordination meetings when required.
  5. Data Collection and Reporting
    • Maintain accurate records of sessions delivered, beneficiaries reached, and referrals made.
    • Submit weekly/monthly reports and contribute to assessments and evaluations.

 

Professional Standards:

All RMF staff are required to adhere to the RMF policies and practices with respect to child protection minimum standards, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.

 

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Community Health, or a related field. Relevant vocational training may be considered with experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in community health work or outreach in humanitarian or development settings.
  • Familiarity with health issues affecting vulnerable populations, especially children and women.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluency in Arabic; working knowledge of English is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural team and respect for diversity.
  • Basic knowledge of child safeguarding and gender-sensitive practices.
