Environmental Officer

Rene Moawad Foundation is seeking to recruit an environmental officer. 

The environmental officer will be responsible for environmental compliance of BALADI and Promoting Sustainable Livelihoods programs' activities.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct initial site visits to identified activities sites.
• Prepare initial environmental examination reports.
• Provide input on environmental compliance in activities’ design in coordination with the programs’ management and technical teams.
• Prepare Environmental Review and Assessment Checklist (ERAC) reports comprising Environmental Management and Monitoring Plans (EMMP) in accordance with USAID regulations (22 CFR 216) and program’s Environmental Compliance Manual.
• Prepare Environmental Monitoring Checklists for both construction and operation phases in accordance with USAID regulations (22 CFR 216) and program’s Environmental Compliance Manual.
• Monitor environmental compliance through prepared checklists and regular site visits.
• Provide awareness sessions or trainings on environmental compliance where required.
• Coordinate with relevant stakeholders and Ministries where required.

Professional skills

• Minimum of 3 years working on donor funded projects
• Minimum of 3 years working on Environmental Impact Assessments
• Proven knowledge of USAID regulation (22 CFR 216) regarding environmental compliance
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proven ability to multi-task and work under pressure
• Strong communication skills
• Proficiency in English and Arabic
• Bachelor degree / Masters in Environmental Sciences
